Yesterday, we released our updated state rankings update, for the 2026 class, now that the fall season has come to an end.  Throughout the fall, our staff traveled across the state, to see as many prospects and teams as possible, and we were able to see more prospects than we've ever seen before.  Our state rankings for the 2026 class expanded to 220 players in total for this update, and there were plenty of movers and shakers throughout the list.  Today, we take a look at a few guys that made a move up in this rankings update.

STATE RANKINGS RISERS (2026 CLASS)

+ 2026 RHP Grant Sunstrom (University Lab HS)

The U-High product tossed two shutout innings at the Future Games this past summer, and showed well again this past fall at our annual State Games event.  Sunstrom worked his FB up to a personal best 87 mph at the State Games and sat 84-86 mph, and his FB plays up thanks to his lower 3/4 arm slot combined with a somewhat lower release height.  In this update, the Louisiana Tech recruit moves up nine spots to #16 in the state.

+ 2026 RHP Alex Richardson (Belle Chasse HS)

We first saw Richardson at our New Orleans Summer ID last summer and came away impressed.  He followed up that performance with an even better one at our State Games event this fall at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.  The Belle Chasse product tossed two shutout innings and gave up only 1 H with 1 K.  Richardson's FB sat in the 87-89 mph range and he showed improved feel for a mid-70's SL.  He's definitely a guy that we're excited to continue to follow as we approach the 2025 high school baseball season.

+ 2026 INF Denton Hester (Captain Shreve HS)

The Captain Shreve product had arguably the best offensive performance at our State Games event this past fall, after finishing with the top max exit velocity at 98.8 mph, while also finishing in the Top-5 for average exit velocity.  His in-game at-bats, however, were probably more impressive than his workout.  Hester took three quality at-bats in Game 1 to finish 2-3 at the plate and he picked up another RBI single in Game 2.  He moves up 47 spots in this update to #24 overall in the state.

+ 2026 RHP Trey Scarborough (St. Mary's HS)

The St. Mary's product was unranked before yesterday's update and now finds himself at the #36 spot in the state.  Scarborough tossed two shutout innings at this fall's State Games and showed that there's likely more on the way, especially once he adds strength to his 6'0" 160 lbs. frame.  Working exclusively from the stretch, Scarborough attacks hitters with a 84-87 mph FB that shows life through the zone with spin rates up to 2608 RPM's.  His 78-81 mph SL tunnels well off his heater with short and late lateral break and was tough to pick up out of the hand.  Lastly, he is also confident in landing an upper-70's CH to both RHH's and LHH's, giving him a true three-pitch mix.

+ 2026 LHP Carter Wilson (Sulphur HS)

Wilson was a member of our Jr. Future Games team as a 13U player three years ago, and it's been really fun to watch his progression over the last couple of years.  The Sulphur product has always been known as a strike-thrower that knows how to pitch, as evidenced by some big wins that he's already had over the course of his high school career, which includes beating nationally ranked Flowermound last season.  We had the chance to see Wilson recently at a Sulphur intrasquad a couple of weeks ago, and his work in the weight room has definitely paid off.  Wilson sat 83-85 mph with his FB, while still showing the ability to locate to all quadrants.  He moves up seven spots in this updater to #42 overall in the state.
