Longville, LA - On Friday, January 31, 2025, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to South Beauregard High School, to host our South Beauregard Scout Day, which featured prospects from the South Beauregard High School baseball program in the 2025-2028 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball.  Pitchers finished the day off by throwing a bullpen with Trackman Baseball to receive all of their data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from Friday's event.

Noah Fontenot 2B / OF / South Beauregard High School, LA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 233 / POS: 13 Hard-nosed, gritty type of player who is more than the sum of his parts.  Fontenot had a good workout last Friday at our Scout Day, as he showed solid actions on the dirt and a good understanding of how to cut angles.  At the plate, he peppered the pull-side gap on a line with a 90 mph max exit velocity.

Christian Wold 1B / RHP / South Beauregard, LA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 258 / POS: 15 A "QB1" on the gridiron in the fall, Wold is a physical 6'1" 195 lbs. uncommitted senior who for the Golden Knights.  Defensively, he moved really well around the first base bag, showing good footwork and a quick transfer on double plays, as well as throwing across the diamond.  Wold also flashed a good arm from the outfield up to 88 mph.  Offensively, he works from an upright stance to deliver a direct path to contact, while showing present strength to the pull-side.  He also posted a 6.99 laser-timed 60.

Cy Barrow OF / RHP / South Beauregard, LA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 231 / POS: 52 Barrow was another interesting uncommitted senior from our South Beauregard Scout Day last Friday.  He's a good athlete and runner, as evidenced by his 6.91 laser-timed 60 on a slower track.  He sports a really simple swing and maintains balance from start to finish, while working gap-to-gap in his approach.

Alexandre Baggett 3B / RHP / South Beauregard, LA / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 106 / POS: 12 Baggett posted the second highest outfield velocity of the day at 87 mph and the highest max fastball velocity at 82.2 mph at last Friday's South Beauregard Scout Day.  The sophomore two-way player looks to be an important overall piece of the Golden Knights success this spring.

Luke Brister SS / 3B / South Beauregard, LA / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 148 / POS: 34 The Arkansas-Rich Mountain commit was a big piece of the Golden Knights run to a State Title last spring, after hitting at a .345 clip and also posting a 3-1 record with 2 saves and 2.00 ERA on the mound.  Brister is a solid defender on the dirt and looks to do damage out front at the plate with some present pop to the pull-side.  He'll be relied upon again in a big way this season.

Jed Henry SS / RHP / SBHS, LA / 2026 Henry is one of the biggest returning offensive threats for South Beauregard this season, after hitting .375 last year as a sophomore with 27 R, 28 RBI, and 20 SB.  The uncommitted junior had a solid all-around day last Friday, as he posted a 7.11 laser-timed 60, was 84 mph from the outfield, and 83 mph across the diamond.  He also took a quality round of batting practice, showing a line drive/gap-to-gap approach.
