2021 Scout Day: Bay Sox - Quick Hits

The Position Players

  • Javar Williams, A 2023 LHH, a wider set up, hands really work at the plate, line drives to middle of the field. A plus runner, got down the line in under 4.10. Top of the order type hiiter, big potential.
  • John McKnight, A 2023 RHH, a level path, pop to pull side, hard contact in batting practice,  good runner,  good actions and movements defensively.
  • Matthew Bellavoine, A 2022 LHH, shows major juice to all fields, natural lift and loft to the swing, chance to hit for power. Moves around the bag very well at 1st, good arm across the diamond, ran a 4.44 down the line.
  • Brady Cabral, A 2023 RHH, showed a short quick stroke, getting through the baseball, with an all fields approach. Ran well at 4.19 on a dig to 1st base. Pop time of just over 2.o, all throws on the bag.
  • Lucas McElroy, A 2022 RHH, showed a powerful swing, level path, hard contact with an exit velocity of 90 mph. Showing the ability to defend in multiple spots, brings a ton of value.
  • Christian Connell, A 2023 LHH, a very good runner, got down the line quickly, showed twitchy wrists in his swing.
  • Mac Dunn, A 2022 LHH, took a legit batting practice, one line drive after another. The swing is short and compact.
  • Manny Santos, A 2023 LHH, showed well on both sides of the field, arm was up to 74 mph. Wider simple stance at teh plate, line drives from the middle to opposite field, advanced approach for a younger player.
  • Jacob Moniz, A 2022 RHH, showing good pop to pull side, hand strength. The swing is short to contact, producing line drives.
  • Chase Lackie, A 2023 LHH, Physical frame, middle to pull side approach, had an exit velocity of 87 mph. Potential to hit with some power at some point.
  • Harvey Berube, A 2022 LHH, very balanced, a level path, line drives to all fields.

The Arms

  • Dylan Amaral, A 2023 RHP, arm action is long and loose on the backside, working from a higher slot, fastball up to 80 mph, with a ton more in, look for a monster jump in velocity at some point. Breaking ball was late with depth.
  • Aidan Greene, A 2023 RHP, fastball up to 78 mph, longer, crank arm action, threw a heavy ball, came out of his hand well. The delivery will need to be smoothed out, chance to throw with some velocity at some point.
  • John McKnight, A 2023 RHP, delivery is repeatable, arm action clean and free on the backside. The fastball was clocked at 77 mph, the breaking ball was thrown for strikes in the mid 60’s.
  • Evan Mello, A 2022 LHP, fastball up to 77 mph, feel for both secondary pitches. Works downhill to both sides of the plate. Look for fastball to be in the low 80’s by the summer.
  • Aidan Metivier, A 2021 RHP, longer frame, projects out.  The fastball up to 77 mph, clean on the backside, with more in there. The breaking ball was thrown for strikes, depth to it. Showed ability to repeat the delivery.
  • Jonathan Quinn, A 2023 RHP, arm action is loose and whippy, electric at times, fastball up to 78 mph, comes out of the hand really well. The breaking ball is slurvery, tight spin.
  • Owen Derocher, A 2023 RHP, threw the baseball well, loose long arm on the backside, and repeated the delivery with ease. The fastball was up to 75 mph, with a ton more in there. Showed feel for both secondary pitches.
