With the spring season in full swing, the PBR Top 100 rankings of players in the 2020 class was rolled out this week. Surprisingly, there are more than a few that have made commitments with others already receiving attention from college recruiters in one form or another. This week, On the Hunt, highlights some of the impact players in the 2020 class that are going to be names to follow closely as they continue to progress throughout their high school careers. Featured in the list of seven players are premium arms and athletes including #1 overall, Nate Wohlgemuth, of Oklahoma who is already running his fastball up to 93 mph.

In 30+ year legendary career, Coach Larry Turner has won 11 state titles, had 15 All-Americans, and has had four players reach the big leagues including two first round picks (Pete Kozma ‘07, Dylan Bundy ‘11) at Owasso High School in Oklahoma. While he is just a freshman, Nate Wohlgemuth appears to be poised to follow in a long list of stellar Owasso players. The right-handed flame-thrower recently ran his fastball up to 93 multiple times while flashing a near-plus changeup that he located with ease to both sides of the plate. In the outing, Wohlgemuth would strike out 13 in five innings of work as PBR Oklahoma director, Andy Urban, took it all in. Wohlgemuth easily puts together a compact, crisp delivery. He releases out of a high ¾ slot with a short arm swing, and stands atop the mound like an imposing bulldog. Wohlgemuth is a strong, wide-shouldered 5-foot-11, 195-pounds and gets excellent use of his legs with a slight drop and drive down the mound. Besides his great fastball and changeup, Wohlgemuth features a slider at 71-73 with tilt that he throws with fastball hand speed. Also a strong hitter, Wohlgemuth shows advanced power from the right side with a short path and strong hands through the zone. He moves around with athleticism in the outfield, and has been clocked at 97 mph on throws from there. The young right-hander is an elite prospect, and with the great track record of Coach Turner and the Owasso baseball program, expect him to continue getting better and quickly reach his potential.
