Season Outlook
The majority of the Calvert Hall roster is back for the 2016 season. The Cardinals are looking to get back to the MIAA A championship and win it this year after coming up just short against Archbishop Spalding. Leading the offense will be a trio of starters such as Brandon Dorsey, Jeff Jones, and Ian Elliott. Dorsey, a North Carolina commit, transfers back to the team after spending the fall at IMG Academy in Florida. He should provide pop to the order along with Jones and Elliott. Gabe Nieto looks to improve upon his sophomore campaign as a utility option in the infield at second and third. DH Nate Bosse provides a power threat from the left side with his imposing frame at 6-foot-6, 250-pounds. Dariel Torres should also provide some pop near the top of the order. Keep an eye on 2017 Garret Matheny behind the plate, 2018 OF JP Murphy, 2016 SS Phil LoMedico to see increased roles this season and be potential impact players. Austin Chavis, Jose Torres, Brendan Webster, Will Kehl, and Trevor Daugherty will also provide depth to the lineup.

On the mound Brad Weber returns to the rotation after being one of their top arm during the 2015 season. He is a mid 80’s arm that hopefully will be able to come back to form after some arm woes have slowed him down early. Trevor Sprinkle looks to make the move from the top bullpen option last year to the rotation. The Miami-Dade recruit has two strong pitches and should keep the team in plenty of games during the season.  Ben Stewart will provide innings to the rotation and is a very strong option with his long, lanky frame. Look for Matt Hentshcell, Ben Brooks, and Zach Glover to provide the bullpen depth needed.
