Season Outlook
The Dons are looking forward to 2016 as the team returns 13 players from last season???s roster, nine of which had significant playing time. Leading the way on the offensive end will be seniors Levone Ward and Alec Schenning.  Last year both players hit over .315 and combined for nine homeruns in the middle of the Loyola Blakefield lineup. Jack Sheehan will also provide another bat in the order along with strong defense at third base for the Dons. Keep an eye out for 2018 SS/RHP AJ Holcomb as he should add strength to the Dons defense. Andrew Fava returns after being second on the team in hits and RBI. The Dons offense also get transfer Jack Glock from Fallston HS who looks to add depth to the order. The outfield looks to also have depth for Loyola Blakefield with Fava, Patrick McCoy (.389 BA), and Rick Nickel (.300 BA, 14 stolen bases).  Keep an eye out for OF James Moses to also play a big role for the Dons offense this 2016.  Hunter Spalt, Miguel Mateo, Joey Staab, Trevor Henigan, and Brent Peterson are also competing for starting positions and contribute.

Loyola Blakefield will need to fill out their pitching rotation after losing ace Chris Girken. Connor Barnes looks to be the early front runner to anchor the staff after averaging a little better than a strikeout-per-inning in 26 innings last season and is coming back fully healthy. Holcomb looks to build off a stellar freshman campaign on the hill for the Dons and should get more innings.  Keep an eye out for RHP Bradyn Kail, who is coming back after missing the majority of 2015 to injury and should be another steady arm in the rotation. Sheehan also should add some depth to the staff.

Overall the Dons look to have plenty of depth on the 2016 roster and that should bode well for the season.  With their depth and if their pitchers come back and stay healthy, Loyola Blakefield could be a sleeper contender in the very tough MIAA A.
