Outlook
The La Plata Warriors baseball program has been one of the best and most consistent programs this decade, reaching the final four of the state playoffs in six of the eight seasons since 2010. Since the Warriors moved down to 2A in 2016, they have a state championship and a final four appearance. 2018 should be another competitive one for La Plata in a very talented Southern Maryland Athletic Conference this season. Leading the way for the Warriors will be sophomore talent Ryan Calvert, coming off a 1st Team All SMAC season in his freshmen campaign. This two way talent will head up the pitching staff and be a leader in the lineup after hitting over .400 last season. Also heading up the pitching staff and adding special two way ability is junior Dean Kirby, who will man the middle infield along with pitching duties as well.  Outfielders Nick Steury and Peytyn Gray are two experienced bats returning to the lineup. Keep an eye out for new faces Tyler Moody and Austin Brown to see an increased role in 2018. Playing a tough SMAC schedule will prepare La Plata well for a run in the 2A playoffs where their south division will be one of the toughest around for 2018.
