Today we are proud to release our 2022 Maryland Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.

The 2022 Spring high school season in Maryland produced incredible performances all across the Old Line State. With the season complete, and the summer circuit underway, Prep Baseball Report Maryland is proud to announce three players who emerged atop their competition across the state.

Player of the year

Amari Allen

Allen, a left-handed pitcher and first baseman, led Sherwood HS to their second consecutive 4A State Title thanks, in part, to Allen's absurd numbers on both sides of the ball.

Offensively, Allen was a juggernaut at the dish, slashing .516/.624/1.194 with 32 total hits, 13 home runs and 47 RBIs.

On the bump, Allen was just as dominant. In his 48 innings pitched, the uncommitted southpaw struck out 81, leading to a 0.56 ERA and a 9-0 record.

Offensive player of the year

Christopher Hacopian

Hacopian, a right-handed hitting shortstop from Winston Churchill HS, led the Bulldogs to a 4A State Semifinals appearance, producing eye-opening numbers along the way.

In 2022, the Wake Forest recruit hit .539 with 12 home runs, 41 RBIs and 39 runs scored.

Pitcher of the year

Parker Thomas

Thomas, a right-handed pitcher from Archbishop Spalding HS, led the Cavaliers to the MIAA "A" Conference Title, putting up ridiculous numbers all season long.

In 38 innings pitched, Thomas notched a perfect 8-0 record, striking out 60 while only giving up 2 earned runs all season, both of which came in the playoffs, leading to a 0.36 ERA. Opposing batters hit only .161 on the season against the East Carolina recruit.
