Anne Arundel County
Arundel Wildcats
2024 Record: 12-10
The Wildcats lost a couple significant pieces from last year’s squad that found themselves with an early exit after a thrilling game we attended in the playoffs vs South River. They do bring back some pieces throughout the rotation, including the projected ace in uncommitted senior Dominic Erculiani. The younger McGriff brother, Tahner, will likely be the #2 with depth provided by Grayson O’Donnell and Jack Haslup. A name to really keep eyes on is freshman two-way Landyn Atherton, who our staff really liked the look of during Saturday’s scrimmages. Offensively, the two-headed monster in senior Rowland Thursby and sophomore Luke Gamble is back to spearhead the top of the Wildcat lineup. Arundel looks to put the pieces together, mixing experience with intriguing youth talent, as they look to improve on last year’s season.
Broadneck Bruins
2024 Record: 15-5
After starting the season 14-1 and dominating their way through opposing competition, the red hot Bruins dropped four of their last five games and had an early exit in what looked like a massive surprise, but turned into the eventual 4A state champions knocking them out. The loaded 2025 class that the Bruins possess will run it back for one final season, led offensively by Nick Cicale (Army), Michael Swick (Frostburg State), and Cade Schuetter (CSU Pueblo). The back end of the lineup will be filled by another crop of seniors who should be valuable two-way players, especially with their ability on the mound.
Broadneck has started to build another strong class, that one being the 2027 class with a duo of two-ways in Cooper Mengel and Avik Cherry, both who will play a big role in the Bruins’ success. On the mound, Noah Forman returns as the ace of the squad who may not blow you away with his stuff, but he knows how to pitch and has had tons of success. Kobe Owen will once again be a big time bullpen piece, and then look for names such as Cherry, Mengel, and Jack Miteff to provide the needed depth. Coach Skrenchuk brings back another strong squad in 2025, is this the year they finally get over the hump?
Chesapeake Cougars
2024 Record: 16-8
The Cougars enter the 2025 campaign with high hopes after making the state title game a year ago. This pitching staff is arguably the deepest and most exciting staff of any across the state, as the Cougars return their standout junior arm in Dylan Adams alongside a talented senior in Christian Spoone. Chesapeake will also have the luxury of turning the ball over to three highly athletic and talented sophomores in Dennis Bailey, Dakari Bailey and Matthew Sowers. These five arms, along with other talented depth allows Chesapeake to match up with just about anybody across the state on the pitching side of things. On the offensive side, look for two-ways Dylan Adams, Christian Spoone, the Bailey brothers and Matthew Sowers to lead the offense, with depth at the top provided by senior standouts from a year ago in Lucas Slayton and Jimmy Dreyer. A balanced, highly athletic/talented roster should allow Coach Young plenty of flexibility throughout the spring and should lead to yet another deep run through the state playoffs.
Crofton Cardinals
2024 Record: 15-9
It was a successful year for the Cardinals in 2024 that led to a state semifinals appearance. Look for pitching depth to be the identity this year, as Crofton returns four top-end arms in junior Billy White and seniors Will Davis, Tristan Young, and Braden Trainor. The reliability and flexibility that Coach Miller has at his disposal in certainly intriguing and should allow wins to be stacked behind the strong pitching staff. Offensively, look for senior Tyler Holt and junior Jason Gifford to provide thump in the middle of the order, with depth provided by two-ways Billy White and Will Davis.
North County Knights
2024 Record: 7-14
The Knights look to rebound after a down year last year, as they return their ace on the bump in Collin Voss. Look for depth to be provided by fellow seniors Dylan Reynolds, Cash Stephenson and an intriguing sophomore in Evan Henry. Offensively, senior Nic Burton is back and should sure up the leadoff spot, with senior Mason Dorr and sophomore Kaiden Cummings providing some thump in the middle of the order. Behind Voss on the bump, this Knights team has a chance against anybody in the county, however depth throughout the lineup may be the thing that holds them back once again in 2025.
Northeast Eagles
2024 Record: 11-7
The Eagles enter 2025 with an offense that matches up well with anybody across the county. A three-headed monster of juniors in Cooper Meeks, Chase McLaughlin, and Jayden Saraullo alone should be able to tally a plethora of runs for the Eagles throughout the spring, however, the depth behind them is certainly a question mark. On the bump, look for Saraullo and senior Dakota Patton to lead the arms, as depth will once again be a question as the spring rolls on. The Eagles offense is certainly intriguing and the nice mix of high contact and power potential should see wins pile up in high scoring affairs.
Severna Park Falcons
2024 Record: 16-5
The Falcons lost a close one-run game in the region finals a year ago that should motivate them into a deeper run in 2025. This roster is rich in talent on both sides of the ball, as Seniors Jacob Williams, Charlie Hartman and Benji Beisler are all back and should bring consistency to the middle of the order. The big thing to watch as the spring rolls on is how well the junior arms perform, as the talent is immense with the likes of Eric Benner and Reese Davis. Senior Dylan Grice should see a ton of innings again in 2025 and the mix of experience and top-end talent with the junior arms will be interesting to watch all year long
