4A Region Predictions

4A West Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Urbana Hawks

Cole’s Winner: Urbana Hawks

Write-Up: We both have the Hawks coming out of this region once again, as we see Urbana being the most balanced and consistent team. Look for Northwest and a storied program in Thomas Johnson potentially giving the Hawks fits, however, look for Coach Frownfelter to have his guys ready come playoff time once again.

4A West Region II

Jamie’s Winner: Walt Whitman Vikings

Cole’s Winner: Walter Johnson Wildcats

Jamie’s write-up: This is the region of death once again, as it has been ever since I’ve been with Prep Baseball. Whitman, WJ, BCC, Churchill or QO has a strong chance to come out of this region and the arguments could easily be made for either of them. Whitman was my pick to get out of the region last year, and I’m sticking to it again in 2025. The roster on both sides in my opinion is just too deep and the top-end talent is legit.

Cole’s Write-Up: When it comes to Montgomery County baseball, anyone has a chance. Regardless of record entering the playoffs and seeding, it’s a one-and-done situation and the right matchup can lead to unexpected results, as we saw in 2024. Whitman will be the obvious favorite to win the region, but a little debate is always fun, so I’m taking WJ to get through the region as their deep pitching staff with a mix of RHPs and LHPs gives them the flexibility to throw multiple college-level arms at a team in one game.

4A East Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Crofton Cardinals

Cole’s Winner: Crofton Cardinals

Write-Up: The Cardinals were state semi-finalists a year ago and we both see them winning this region once again in 2025. The balance on both sides, with the unique ability to hit for power and play small ball at the plate makes for this to be another exciting year at Crofton. If the pitching holds up, we see a deep run on the horizon once again. A close 2-1 loss to Crofton in the state playoffs last year makes for North County to most likely be the team that may give Crofton the biggest fit, however, we still see the Cardinals taking the region again.

4A East Region II

Jamie’s Winner: Broadneck Bruins

Cole’s Winner: Leonardtown Raiders

Jamie’s Write-Up: This is a highly competitive region and the thought of seeing a rematch of Leonardtown and Broadneck in a region matchup is even more intriguing than last year. I’m taking Broadneck to find their revenge and get out of this region behind an extremely talented lineup and some pitching depth that shows intrigue. The underclassmen will be the difference maker for the Bruins in my eyes, as another year of experience for Avik Cherry and Cooper Mengel should impact positively on both sides. 

Cole’s Write-Up: Last year Leonardtown busted my predictions after upsetting Broadneck in the region semifinals, going on to winning the 4A state championship. Since they did that, I’m taking the Raiders to win the region once again. Although Broadneck may have more star-level names throughout the roster, these SMAC schools always seem to have these under-the-radar guys that jump onto the scene last minute. Leonardtown will look to build off of last year’s success as they look for back-to-back titles.

4A North Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Perry Hall Gators

Cole’s Winner: Perry Hall Gators

Write-Up: Perry Hall should be the odds on favorite to get out of this region once again, as they did a year ago following a close 4-3 win over Parkville. The Gators return a plethora of impact bats and arms that gained experience last year, and we see this paying dividends in 2025. 

4A North Region II

Jamie’s Winner: Richard Montgomery Rockets

Cole’s Winner: Richard Montgomery Rockets

Write-Up: The Rockets got upset by Wheaton in a close 4-2 loss in the Region II finals a year ago, and we see them getting their revenge in 2025. The return of their two-headed monster on the bump, along with a slew of offensive talents should see Richard Montgomery as a sneaky team to make some noise come playoff time.

4A South Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Reservoir Gators

Cole’s Winner: Montgomery Blair Blazers

Jamie’s Write-Up: This one is a toss up in my eyes. Blair got the best of Reservoir a year ago in the Region Semi’s and it should be a close one once again in 2025. I see the two standout arms in Gavin Metrick and Matthew Russel to take that next step this spring and be dominant across the region, and the return of impact upperclassmen bats in my eyes pushes the Gators over the top. I certainly like Blair, however, I see Reservoir taking the region.

Cole’s Write-Up: This region has the makings to be very good in 2025, and we see a toss-up between Blair and Reservoir. Blair bested the Gators in the Region semi-finals on their way to a region title win over Northwood and I see them repeating as Region I champs. The difference maker in my eyes is the addition of standout two-way Dylan Anderson who looks to sure up the rotation and the middle of the order. If the lineup can produce around Anderson, and this pitching staff works to their potential, Blair is a scary team to come out of Region I.

4A South Region II

Jamie’s Winner: Charles H. Flowers Jaguars

Cole’s Winner: Charles H. Flowers Jaguars

Write-Up: Flowers is the favorite to win the region once again in 2025, and possessing one of the more experienced teams in the region should pay dividends come playoff time. Roosevelt is always highly competitive and a tight 2 run loss to Flowers a year ago in the region finals looks to set up another rematch this year.
