Central Maryland Conference (CMC)

Boonsboro Warriors

2024 Record: 7-10

Boonsboro was one of the top teams in the CMC in the front half of the decade, but took a step back last season after losing a ton of talent on both sides. The good news is that their team was very young last season and they return a majority of their lineup in 2025. Throughout the lineup, they return a pair of juniors who were all-conference honorable mention last season in Logan Atkinson and Parker DeBaugh. On the bump, Darian Gaskins will likely step into a big role and if he can spring together some strong performances, Boonsboro has a chance to upset just about anyone on the right day.

Brunswick Railroaders

2024 Record: 22-2

The addition of uber-talented Ty Kaunas (Maryland) seemed to be the difference maker in 2024, as bringing him alongside the rest of the talent on the Railroaders squad led to a 22-2 record and a 1A State Championship, their 7th in school history. The pitching staff remains pretty intact, returning their projected ace in Colin Pearre (Salisbury) alongside Kaunas and junior Nathan Borawski. These arms will have a new backstop mate as well as junior Hunter Reed transfers in after being homeschooled last year. Offensively, this team was electric last season, but will look for some depth throughout the lineup after losing a plethora of talent. Look for sophomore Carter Vinar to play a huge role offensively as the Railroaders look to go back-to-back in 2025.

Clear Spring Blazers

2024 Record: 14-6

Clear Spring has been a small school powerhouse inside the CMC for the past few years and will look for a new face to lead this program after the graduation of two-way phenom Dawson Kehr. Offensively they bring back a couple all-conference players from last year’s team including a trio of juniors JJ Hull, Tyce McConnaughey, and Landen Yates. Just like last year, depth on the mound could be a potential question mark for this team, but expect a majority of the workload to be given to McConnaughey and senior Noah Sluzalis as Clear Spring showcases a younger team in 2025.

Linganore Lancers

2024 Record: 14-6

Looking at last year’s roster compared to this season’s, Linganore may have lost the most talent of anyone not only in the conference, but in the entire state of Maryland. Linganore’s pitching staff takes a massive hit after losing their top four arms; Austin Perando, Stephen Curry, Zach Dodson, and Dylan Remphrey all to graduation. On the bright side, they do bring back two arms who should see significant time on the bump in senior Dominic Worley and junior Chase Perry. The lineup also takes some massive hits and will look for some underclassmen to step up earlier than expected for the Lancers as this likely looks like a rebuild year for the program.

Middletown Knights

2024 Record: 19-5

Last season was special for the Knights as their high-powered middle of the lineup mixed with their 1-2 punch on the mound helped lead them to their second 2A state championship. The lineup loses their top three hitters in Andrew Raymond, Joey Nicholson, and Fredy Diaz, but they do bring back some pieces that provided key depth last season in Easton Metral, Dylan Leadbetter (Davis & Elkins), and Cory Godlove. Freshman Cody Smith could be a name to keep eyes on offensively if his name is called to varsity this season. On the mound, you lose Hunter Barnes, Tyler Haupt, and Preston Yost, but you do bring back senior Wyatt Hopson to provide key innings on the mound. The Knights will have some new faces leading the program this season as they look to mimic last years’ state title run.

North Hagerstown Hubs

2024 Record: 13-8

The Hubs enter 2025 with a new feel to the roster, as reliable and standout arms in Mac Stiffler and Henry Ortiz have moved on to college. North Hagerstown will need to rely on Seniors Ian Kelly and Henry Lewis to make jumps this spring and provide key innings, as younger players will need to fill the void of innings on the backend. Top end talented bats in Luke Bragunier and Luke Frazee have also moved on, therefore there will be a plethora of opportunities for younger players to produce consistent AB’s and gain experience. Look for Junior James Ortiz to fill at least one of these voids and take that next step offensively in 2025. Kelly and Lewis match up with anybody in this conference, however the lack of offensive firepower may force the Hubs to take a step back this spring.

Oakdale Bears

2024 Record: 13-8

Oakdale sports a younger look in 2025 after losing 7 of their 9 starters to graduation, including their star pitcher in Britton Wildasin. In 2025, look for JP Shultz (Charleston WV) to be the head of the rotation, with some depth provided by Tyler Shaw (Central Penn) and Parker Dix. The offense also loses some pieces, but returns a slew of upperclassmen in Cooper Thompson, Jack Scarzello, Nolan Noweski, and Brandon Yowell. A potential name to watch towards the back of the lineup is an intriguing freshman in Cooper DeWaal who could see time on varsity. Depth on both sides will be the question for the Bears under first year head coach John Schmidt, who transfers from MoCo powerhouse Bethesda-CC, but the talent on the front end is certainly there.

Tuscarora Titans

2024 Record: 10-11

Tuscarora returns an offense that showed a lot of promise this season and should breakout after the conference loses a plethora of arms overall, highlighted by the Tuscarora seniors in Cameron Vachon (Lander), Gabe Bennett, Caden Spangenberg, and Aaron Molisheas. Parker Kopp is a junior who we expect to have a breakout season and become a power bat in the middle of the lineup. On the pitching side, depth could be a potential problem, however returning junior Isaiah Babcock is significant after putting on a strong show this preseason. A name to watch out for on both sides of the ball is Landon Rosenberg who could turn into a game-changing piece for the Titans as a freshman as he has a bright future ahead of him in the gridiron and on the diamond.

Urbana Hawks

2024 Record: 17-6

Urbana is always a fun team to follow every single season as they always seem to make a deep run inside of class 4A, and we expect much of the same this season. They return a pair of senior arms who led them last season in Daniel Jakuboywc and Mason Johnson, and we believe junior Evan Zarroli will play a massive role in Urbana’s success as he can shut down just about any offense on the right day. Offensively, they are once again highlighted by Future Games alum Kayden Lipscomb, along with another pair of junior bats in Billy Swaney and Aiden Welch. Trevor Collins is a sophomore we’ve seen a lot over the last few months and we think he will make an impact not only at the plate with his switch-hitting ability, but also with his arm behind the dish as he looks to command this pitching staff. Buckle up this spring because Urbana is once again ready to roll after somewhat of a disappointing end to last season.
