2025 MIAA A Conference: All Conference Team
February 28, 2025
Newcomer of the Year - 2026 Michael Goldsmith (Mount St. Joseph)
|
Michael Goldsmith C / 1B / Mount Saint Joseph, MD / 2026Goldsmith transfers into the MIAA after two years at St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School and will look to make an immediate impact with the Gaels. A 2024 Future Games alum, Goldsmith has impressed our staff year in and year out, and now a move to Mount St. Joseph allows the left-handed hitting catcher to really make a name for himself across the conference, and the state as a whole. The physicality garners attention at first glance, standing at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds with proportional strength and still room to add maturity. The hit tool impresses, showcasing a whole field line drive approach with power numbers quickly on the rise with already known pull-side juice. The part of Goldsmith's game that will be the most intirguing in our eyes this spring, is the way he handles this pitching staff behind the dish. The arms the Gaels will throw out this spring are highly talented with huge upside, and it will be important for Goldsmith to build the relationships early on. Always a fan of left-handed hitting catchers, Goldsmith has quickly grown to be one of the top offensive backstops in the 2026 class, and we believe a breakout year in the MIAA will only propel him to new heights as he navigates the recruiting trail. |
Pitcher of the Year - East Carolina commit Nathan Wines (Archbishop Spalding)
|
Nathan Wines RHP / 1B / ARCHBISHOP SPALDING HIGH SCHOOL, MD / 2025One of our early "Picks to Click" as we enter the 2025 spring, Wines looks to take over the "ace" role for the three-peat conference champion, Archbishop Spalding. The ECU commit really came into his own a year ago, striking out 56 over 43 innings pitched, going 6-0 with a 2.76 ERA. Our staff got eyes on Wines a few weeks ago at a Procase, and the arm talent has only increased since our last look, now sitting comfortably in the low 90s with a curveball/changeup mix that may be the best in the state. A Spalding staff that is loaded with top-end talent, Wines looks to be at the top of that list and lead this rotation to a fourth consecutive MIAA "A" title. |
Player of the Year - UNC Wilmington commit Casey Carpenter (John Carroll)
|
Casey Carpenter 3B / 1B / John Carroll , MD / 2025We could have went in multiple different directions with this one, as the positional talent across the MIAA is vast and extremely deep. Not only is this a very difficult pick to choose just one across the conference, but it's tough to pick just one from John Carroll alone, as standout talents in Will Rhine (Alabama) and Dallas Brooks could easily get the nod. Casey Carpenter is a different animal, and a standout performance at our MD PAS I a month ago only added his value in our eyes. Now standing at a physical, 6-foot-1, 215-pounds, the athletic corner infielder has some of the most untapped power potential in the class, and we look for those power numbers to really make a jump in 2025. Possessing high end bat to ball skills with barrel whip and quick hands, Carpenter is coming off a junior campaign where more than half of his hits were for extra bases, and as the swing decisions and barrel awareness increases his senior year, we look for this to be a high average bat with plus power that takes this conference by storm. As said before, the Preseason Player of the Year award could be argued for multiple players across the conference, however, we feel like this year is the year that Carpenter makes that big jump. |
