We continue our spring high school previews and projections with a look at 15 "Picks to Click" as we inch closer to the 2025 baseball season. Highlighted in these stories are players that we believe are in contention for "Player of the Year" or "Pitcher of the Year" and we will give a detailed analysis, including video on each. Next up, we would like to highlight Maryland recruit Bud Coombs from DeMatha Catholic High School.

Johnathan Coombs OF / SS / DeMatha Catholic, MD / 2025There's not many true 5-tool athletes in high school baseball, however, Bud Coombs fits that mold to a "T". A two-sport standout at DeMatha, Coombs will take his talents to the University of Maryland to play both football and baseball following his senior year; a year that may bring a "Player of the Year" award to the physical outfielder. Speed and power are things that stand out immediately when watching Coombs, and the ability to innately slow the game down is always impressive to watch. Gap-to-gap strength with line drive tendencies and some added power should see extra-base hit numbers increase this spring, and the controlled violence in which Coombs plays with should bring a ton of attention to DeMatha. |
