We continue our spring high school previews and projections with a look at 15 "Picks to Click" as we inch closer to the 2025 baseball season. Highlighted in these stories are players that we believe are in contention for "Player of the Year" or "Pitcher of the Year" and we will give a detailed analysis, including video on each. Next up, we would like to highlight Nathan Wines from Archbishop Spalding.

Nathan Wines RHP / 1B / ARCHBISHOP SPALDING HIGH SCHOOL, MD / 2025Wines has been a prominent piece in the Spalding rotation for years, and heading into his senior season, the ECU recruit looks better than ever and I have no doubt he is ready to take over the "ace" role in 2025. The body has officially matured and strength is evident in the 6-foot, 200-pound frame. I just got a chance to see him at a procase a few weeks back and the arsenal is as electric as ever, with three pitches thrown with confidence. The fastball is now sitting comfortably in the low 90s and look for it to jump into the 95/96 range as we get deeper into the spring, mixed well with a tight, late breaking slider in the upper 70s. The changeup might be the difference maker in my eyes, now sharp with killed spin down in the mid 80s. This is a can't miss arm, ready to make a huge impact across the Mid-Atlantic region in 2025. |
