We begin our spring high school previews and projections with a look at 15 "Picks to Click" as we inch closer to the 2025 baseball season. Highlighted in these stories are players that we believe are in contention for "Player of the Year" or "Pitcher of the Year" and we will give a detailed analysis, including video on each. Without further ado, the first player we would like to highlight is University of Maryland commit Sammy Berman from Walt Whitman High School.

Sammy Berman SS / RHP / Walt Whitman High, MD / 2025One of the top infielders across the state, the University of Maryland recruit is coming off a stellar junior year campaign where he slashed .490/.567/1.371 with 2 homeruns. While the offensive game-changing ability is what sparks interest at first glance, Berman also showed the ability to be a catalyst out of the 'pen for the Vikings in 2024, notching 19 strikeouts over 13.1 innings pitched, running the fastball up to 90 mph. 2025 should see the same from Berman, a high-contact run producer that sets the table in the middle of the order. Whitman has been one of the top public school teams across the state for many years now, and led by Berman in 2025 should propel them as one of the top teams to beat once again. |
