The Commitment Corner spotlights those Maryland high school student-athletes who have made their decision on where to play their college baseball. This is a unique opportunity to get to know several of the states top talent and gain insight into their recruitment process and ultimately what made them choose the school they did.  Today we speak with: Phillip Lyons

 

 

COMMITMENT: YORK COLLEGE (PA)

 

PBR MD:  List any awards / accolades you received in high school.

• Distinguished Honor Roll, All-County 2017 & 2018, All-County Honorable Mention 2016. All-UCBAC 2017.

PBR MD:  Why did you choose York?

• The school just felt right as soon as I walked on campus. The program is very competitive and Coach Scappa is a great guy with great old school values. I also felt that I will get a great education from York and be very successful after my four years.

PBR MD:  What do you plan to major in at York?

• Electrical Engineering

PBR MD:  What are some of your goals you would like to achieve at York?

• First and most importantly is to graduate with a 3.5 GPA. Then, win a National Championship helping my team anyway I can.

PBR MD:  What are your plans this summer to get ready for school?

• Continue lifting and staying in shape. Also, I plan on throwing 7-10 innings a week with my summer team.

PBR MD:  Are you playing summer baseball? If yes, who are you planning to play for?

• Yes, Cecil American Legion

PBR MD:  What other schools recruited you?

• St. Thomas Aquinas, Coppin State, Widener, Elizabethtown, Eastern, PSU-Harrisburg, Gettysburg

PBR MD:  What was your favorite part about the recruiting process?

• Getting to know all the coaches and testing the food at all the schools.
