55 players took part in this year's Scout Day with Elite Baseball MD. Players in attendance represented multiple teams within the organization spanning the 2021-2024 graduating classes. Players were put through a pro-style workout that included BP and bullpens for pitchers. Below are scout notes on seven top performers from the pitching portion of the workout with short video clips from the bullpen included on each player.

Top Performances from the Bullpen Portion

Miles Colbert OF / LHP / Our Lady Of Good Counsel , MD / 2021

Athletic, projectable 6'1'', 180 pound frame. Works up-tempo with a side-step wind-up and high leg kick to a tall, compact balance position with a quarter body turn. Drop and-drive delivery landing in-line to home plate with a slightly upright finish. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort and creates some arm speed through release. Really like the control and ability to work both sides of the plate throwing both pitches constantly for strikes. Fastball sat 75-77 and touched 78 mph with some arm-side run. Breaking ball showed big 12/6 shape at 59-60 mph and worked 11/5 at times. Solid two-way player also which we'll talk more about in a later Scout Blog. Interesting uncommitted 2021 with a lot of versatility to offer a program here late.

Dylan Friebert RHP / 3B / Bethesda-Chevy Chase, MD / 2022

Athletic 6'0'', 175 pound frame with some projection. Side-step wind-up and high leg kick to a tall, compact balance position. Controlled stride down the mound landing slightly closed, upright, and directed towards the arm-side part of the plate. Arm action is long throwing from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Fastball works primarily to the arm-side at 76-79 and touched 80 mph. Breaking ball showed consistent 11/5 shape at 63-66 mph.

Joshua Hollowell RHP / SS / Sherwood, MD / 2022

Athletic 5'10'', 140 pound frame. Works up-tempo in the wind-up with a quick high leg kick to a tall balance point with hands extended away from body. Throws with longer arm action thats loose mixing from a mid to high three-quarter slot. Showed some arm speed through release and lands slightly closed to the plate with slight crossbody action. Fastball sat 77-79 mph with nice arm-side run. Breaking ball was sharp with 11/5 shape at 65-68 mph and slider showed short 10/4 shape. Nice feel for the change-up that was 68-71 mph with late dive and fade action in the zone.

Brady McGonigal C / RHP / Wilde Lake, MD / 2023

5'9'', 170 pound frame with strength. Controlled build-up in the wind-up to a tall, compact balance position with a quarter body turn. Smooth kick-out stride down the mound landing in-line with the plate. Gets hard over the front side with an athletic finish. Arm works long and loose throwing from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Creates quick arm speed through release. Fastball sat 76-79 mph and topped out at 81 mph. Showed really nice feel for the breaking ball at 63-66 mph with sharp 11/5 shape.  Interesting follow in the 2023 class with some two-way potential.

Luke Peffer RHP / Sherwood, MD / 2021

Nice low-to-mid-80's uncommitted arm still available in the 2021 class. Projectable frame at 6'3'', 175 pounds. Controlled side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a tall balance position. Smooth stride down the mound. Arm works quick from a mid three-quarter slot and gets over front side well through release. Fastball sat 81-84 and touched 85 mph with really nice arm-side run. Showed feel for the change-up at 73-75 mph throwing it to both sides of the plate. Slider looks to be a work in progress. Did throw a couple that showed short 10-4 shape.

Steven Tameris RHP / OF / Sherwood, MD / 2022

6'0'', 175 pound frame with some projection. Pitches from the stretch with a controlled leg kick to balance. Throws with short arm action from a low three-quarter slot with easy effort. Lands in-line to the plate in an upright position. Fastball sat 77-81 mph and showed nice late arm-side run. Breaking ball was 68-72 mph with short 11/5 shape and showed feel a late sinking change-up at 70-72 mph.

Beck Urofsky 3B / RHP / Bethesda-Chevy Chase, MD / 2022

Top overall performance of the entire event arguably goes to Beck Urofsky from Bethesda-CC. The 6'3'', 200 pound 3B/RHP showed power potential at the plate and an explosive fastball during the pen. The frame is strong, projectable, and easy to like. Pitches from the stretch with a high leg kick to a tall balance position with a quarter body turn. Showed uphill shoulder tilt in drive down the mound. Throws with a full arm-circle and shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Fastball sat 84-86 and popped 87 mph with arm-side run. Breaking ball showed tight 11/5 shape at 74-76 mph and change-up was 78-79 mph. Very intriguing arm to follow with what figures to be more there down the road.
