Freshmen Free Showcase: Outfield Analysis

The Freshmen Free Showcase was held on Saturday, January 21 at Athletic Performance Inc in Gambrills, MD. The event was for Freshmen only and featured players from across the state. We began the evaluation process with our Stats Story and Early Thoughts.

Today we break down video from the event with the outfield analysis.

Top Performer

Dhane Blair OF St. Mary's 2020
1.21.17 - Ran a 4.12 home to first.Hits from a taller, slightly open setup. Slight double tap load. Short, quick bat path direct with some extension. Proper lower half and should get get better with ore invovlement and as he gets stronger. Exit velocity of 77 mph. Sound actions in the outfield. Quick, confident first step. Shorter, quick arm action, could get ball out faster in release to pair better with his developing arm that should continue to increase in velocity. Outfield velocity of 76.

Dakarai Beasley OF Delmar (DE) 2020
1.21.17 - Ran a 4.14 home to first. Hits from an athletic, square set up. Short rock back load with slight drift in stride. Short, slightly uphill swing path with quick hand and potential for more bat speed. Exit velocity of 79 mph. Clean actions in the outfield. Solid hands and clean exchange. Could work thru ball more to get better carry on throws. Shows potential for more arm strength as he gets stronger. Outfield velocity of 69.

Jake Maske OF DeMatha 2020
1.21.17 - Ran a 4.26 home to first. Hits from an open athletic set up. Smooth load with weight rock back and shows balance into hitting position. Shows bat speed with level path and some extension through contact. Used field well during BP and hands were free. Should get better as he gets stronger. Exit velocity of 75 mph. Clean hands and exchange in the outfield. Works through ball well with a longer, free arm action. Outfield velocity of 81.

Peyton Taylor OF/RHP Kent County 2020
1.21.17 - Ran a 4.17 home to first. Hits from a square setup. Short load with double tap and arm bar. Level swing path with some bat speed through zone. Some lower half involvement, could get some more explosion in transfer with less drift, which shows more power could be present. Exit velocity of 82 mph. Sound actions in the outfield. Shorter arm action throwing from a high three quarter slot. Works thru ball well. Outfield velocity of 71 mph.

Dev Zoks OF/RHP Wootton 2020
1.21.17 - Ran a 4.47 home to first.Hits froma slightly open taller set up with high hands. Lowers hands in rock back load and arm bar. Level path through the zone and average bat speed. Should get quick as he gets stronger. Exit velocity of 71 mph. Clean actions and good hands in the outfield. Works through ball well and gains momentum out. Loose and quick arm action that looks like should continue to get stronger. Outfield velocity of 76.
