Fresh off of an impressive 48-9 record and earning a birth to the NJCAA Division I JUCO World Series in 2022, Harford Community College participated in a PBR JUCO Scout Day with PBR Maryland in late September. Below, Jamie Naill takes a look at 13 positional players who stood out on the day.

Ethan Burbage 3B / SS / Kingsway Regional, NJ / 2021Hitting from a slightly crouched, athletic stance at the dish, Burbage creates a ton of torque in the lower half with plenty of strength to the pull side. Catches it out in front, creating extension through with occasional loft to the pull side. High contact guy with consistent balance. Also clocked a 7.09 60-yard with a 79 mph infield velocity.

Charlie Canapp C / OF / North Harford, MD / 2021A standout during the pro-style workout, Canapp portrays physicality and athleticism in multiple facets of the game. Utilizing a smooth, rhythmic back load, the hands stay loose through the zone with plenty of barrel speed through, creating extension with strength to the pull side gap. Behind the dish, the transfers are quick and clean, gaining a ton of ground on throws to the bag that show carry (1.91-2.01 Pop Times). As long as the contact rate and plate discipline stay true, look for Canapp to make an impact for the Fighting Owls this Spring.

Trey Cruz SS / 2B / North Rockland, NY / 2019I said it in the tweet and I'll say it again here, Trey Cruz is one of, if not my favorite bats across all of Maryland JUCO. The lefty stroke is fluid with controlled violence, staying true to a whole field, line drive approach. A plus contact rate, Cruz combines a technically sound approach with some of the biggest pop from the left side in the state, with power numbers that continue to rise as strength is added to the frame. As was true last season, look for the LHH shortstop to lead the Fighting Owls this season.

Brody Levin 2B / SS / Mainland , NJ / 2025A guy that really stuck out to me was Levin. Hitting out of a crouched, quiet stance, Levin creates torque in the hips and lower half while consistently back spinning balls to the pull side with authority. The hands are strong and create whippy bat speed through with the ability to be a mainstay at the top of a loaded offensive lineup this season. An impact guy in all facets, Levin possesses pop at the plate with fluid actions defensively and an above average run tool that bodes well for a "table-setter" in this lineup.

Quinn Madden OF / Robinson, VA / 2020A guy that may have the brightest future on this roster, Madden showcased why the hype in this lineup surrounds him. Not only do the metrics jump off the board, leading the way with a 103 mph exit velocity, Madden brings an energy to the game that is unmatched. Possessing an uber-athletic frame, the ball jumps off the barrel to all fields with evident strength to the middle, showcasing the ability to leave the yard at any moment. A high ball hitter, Madden looks to do damage on every pitch with intriguing barrel awareness for the plus power he generates.

Peter Maldonado C / 2B / Heritage, NC / 2021Left-handed hitting catchers are a thing of beauty, and Maldonado fits the mold to a T. Showcasing easy pull side juice at the dish, the actions are fluid and showcase the ability to manipulate the barrel on a consistent basis. The actions behind the dish may even be the most intriguing quality, showcasing the ability to manage a game with leadership qualities that are second to none. If the bat can stay consistent enough, Maldonado has a bright future after his days at Harford.

Mason Morris C / OF / Milford (DE), MD / 2022It seems that the catcher position may be the deepest and most talented position on the field for Harford, and Mason Morris adds his name to backstops who impressed on the day. Physicality and eye-opening athleticism, Morris can get it done in all facets with metrics that back up the gameplay. Utilizing quick twitch at the dish, the hands are fast with a level plane through the zone. Evident and consistent line drive tendencies, Morris shows the ability to create occasional lift that bodes well for increased power numbers at the collegiate level.

Dylan Perry OF / OF / Gulf Coast, FL / 2021A guy who caught my eye early on was Perry. After clocking a laser timed 6.50 60-yard, the spotlight was on and Perry did not disappoint the rest of the day. Twitch in the hands, the strength and shear power was on display during BP with consistent line drives peppered to the pull side. Utilizing a strong lower half and an uphill path through contact, Perry looks to bring serious pop to balance this lineup throughout.

Titus Shay OF / RHP / Susquehanna Township, PA / 2022One of the most impressive rounds of BP on the day, Shay showcased the ability to lace line drives to the pull side gap with authority consistently. The hands work quick, synching into the lower half well with solid balance throughout and the ability to leave the yard at any moment. Consistency with the barrel will play a big role this Spring, but look for Shay to make an impact in some facet for the Fighting Owls, especially at the dish.

Ryan Spina 1B / 3B / Holy Spirit High School, NJ / 2024The athleticism was on full display for Spina, showcasing intriguing metrics in all facets. After clocking an impressive 6.88 60-yard, Spina showcased plus pop during BP, consistently back spinning balls to the pull side gap with authority. Firing through the hips, Spina showcases the ability to leave the yard at any moment with a short, compact stroke.

Tariq Talley SS / 3B / Towson, MD / 2022I was a huge fan of Talley during his days at Towson high school, and he certainly did not disappoint during this scout day. The metrics have always jumped off the board, showcasing a plus run tool with a high contact rate at the dish. The approach is balanced with the ability to spray line drives to both gaps consistently, with added pop at the dish as strength continues to be added to the frame.

Cam Trego OF / OF / Coatesville Area, PA / 2020This was my first opportunity to see Trego, and I was impressed from the jump. Not only is the run tool plus (6.61 60-yard), but the arm strength and short, whippy stroke is advanced. A top of the order profile, the left-handed hitting outfielder embodies confidence and showcases fluid, explosive actions in all facets. The swing stays compact with a shorter finish, creating occasional lift that looks to provide advanced power numbers. Looking to be a table-setter at the top of this lineup, if the contact rate stays consistent, Trego will be a huge impact player for the Fighting Owls this Spring.

Alec Welshans 3B / OF / Northern York, PA / 2021Consistency and shear strength was on full display from Welshans, and the BP rounds were extremely impressive. The strength is to the pull side, creating consistent loft with carry to the pull side gap. Creating extension, the ball jumps off the barrel with advanced power. Long, strong frame has the ability to fill out.
