The Leonardtown Raiders (12-3) and Calvert Cavaliers (9-7) had offense on display with 26 totals hits in a game that could never seem to find its rhythm as Leonardtown pulled out an 11-8 victory on Monday night.

Both teams came out swinging and combined for seven runs in the first inning. In the top half of the frame, the Raiders plated two off of Calvert starting pitcher Colin Taeschner (Navy). Nick Burch doubled, John Deems reached on an error that would allow Burch to score. Matt Bobrowski singled to knock in Deems, giving the Raiders an early 2-0 lead.

In the bottom half of the inning the Cavaliers would bounce back with five runs of their own off Raiders starter Cole Tarleton. Jacob Willis doubled, Gavin Lusby reached on an error, Taeschner helped himself with a single, and Ty Kwiatkoski reached on an error before an out was recorded.  Duke Marlowe had a big two-run double, and Christian Vail doubled to drive in Marlowe. That would conclude a wild first inning that saw Calvert send all nine hitters to the plate, taking a 5-2 lead

From that point on both pitchers would shut out the other team until the fourth when
David Tydings
would walk, advance on a wild pitch, and later score on a fielder's choice by LoganBrock.

The Raiders offense would keep up the pressure and chase Taeschner from the game in the fifth, tallying three singles, a walk, and a hit by pitch. After five the Raiders had taken the lead at 6-5. It was a lead Leonardtown would never give back. Insurance runs were added on for the Raiders in both the sixth and seventh innings with five runs from seven hits.

In the seventh with starting pitcher Cole Tarleton still on the mound the Cavaliers started their rally. Willis, Lusby and Taesher all doubled followed by a Kwiatkosky single bringing the score to 11-8. This is as close as Calvert would get as Deems would come in and induce a huge 6-4-3 double play and a ground out to earn the save.
