MD Rankings Insider No. 1-10

Austin Elliott RHP / OF / Cape Henlopen (DE), MD / 2018

Has continued to develop and placed himself into the No.1 Spot of the new 2018 Rankings with a strong summer showing. North Carolina commit. Hits from an athletic slightly open set up. Has nice rhythm throughout. Stays open at load at times, not all the time. Shows strong hands and potential for some power at the plate. Shows nice bat speed throughout swing. Gets some lower half involvement... Athletic delivery on the mound with good tempo. A bit of a drop and drive style delivery and does pitch with some effort. Loose quick arm action with fast arm speed. Projectable body so there is still more growing and filling out to do. Fastball sat 85-87 topping out at 88mph. Breaking ball was 75-77 with put away potential and still a good pitch. Change was 80-82 with dive.

Did not do position on the day. ---- Compact quick deliveyr on the mound with tempo. Higher leg kick into down to out lower half. Slight cross body at landing. Sound arm action throwing from a three quarter arm slot. Pitches with regular effort. NIce backside involvement. Fastball has slight run up to 85 on the day. Breaking ball has a tight, bottom out action with 11/5 shape. Has cutter with shorter action and slight sink.

Zack Gelof SS / RHP / Cape Henlopen (DE), MD / 2018

Gelof has filled out growing into a 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame. Has created a simple approach at the plate with a short, quick bat at the plate with a middle approach and occasional pop. Shows nice rhythm at the plate with average lower half and has chance to get more involvement there. He shows athletic actions in the infield with quick hands, clean exchange and life on his throws across the diamond. On the mound Gelof has continued to develop there as well, getting lower half involvement with a loose athletic arm action and creating fast arm speed pitching with regular effort. Been up to 87 mph. Gelof has true two way potential at the next level.

Jacob Zebron RHP / OF / Colonel Richardson, MD / 2018

4/5/17 - Projectable frame with long arms. Free arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Creates fast arm speed pitching with light effort. Has a bit of old school in delivery. Lower half works well, good backside involvement, opens up a bit early with some cross body action. Fastball was straight at 87-91 mph. Was around the strike zone, when he showed best command, he was able to create two plane action on the fastball. was able to keep velocity when he did this as well. Breaking ball had 11/5 action with late movement and ranged from 72-73 mph. More in the tank as he adds to his frame. Could be a very interesting 2018 prospect.

Stephen Pelli RHP / 3B / St. Mary's, MD / 2018

3/23/17 - Throwing out of a 3/4 slot he showed quick arm speed with a loose action. His delivery was controlled with some rhythm and he created a good downward tilt with his hips and shoulders. He pitches with some effort. His fastball was consistently 84-87 on a cold, windy day with some run. He topped out at 89 a few times, most noticeably in the top of the fifth to complete striking out the side. His change-up continues to be his best secondary pitch with near fastball arm speed at 71-73. His Change-up showed good, late fade and seemed to have developed more sink to compliment the lateral movement. His BB was 71-73 with power, 11/5 action although his command of this pitch is inconsistent. Has been up to 91 mph on the mound

Jose Rivera SS / 3B / Riverdale Baptist, MD / 2018

Rivera is an exciting prospect at Riverdale Baptist. Solid frame with some strength. Hits from the right side with nice rhythm at the plate. Hands work with smoothness and strength with pull side power. Consistently gets barrell on the baseball and shows ability to drive ball with extension through contact. Had an outstanding spring for Riverdale Baptist offensively. Smooth fielder defensively, might need to move to a corner down the road, but also is a very intriguing prospect as a catcher.

Kody Milton 3B / 1B / Severna Park, MD / 2018

Milton shows why he should continue to be considered as one of the top hitters in the state. Smooth swing and load throughout with free hands and the ability to drive the baseball. Did so on the day in state semi-finals with a deep drive to right center in the final frame to put the game tying run on second. Simple approach at the plate and consistently shows ability to barrel the baseball in g
