Thursday night featured an intriguing MIAA "B" Conference matchup, as Boys Latin played host to McDonogh. The Lakers came into the contest riding a five game win streak and really hitting their stride as of late, while the Eagles, although holding onto a winning record in Conference play, has struggled with consistency throughout the season.

McDonogh would strike first in the third inning, as Senior middle infielder Jacob Murrell singled in the games first run, followed by a sac fly RBI off the bat of Junior outfielder Peter Kokinis to make the score 2-0. Boys Latin answered right back in their half of the third, led by an RBI single off the bat of Freshman shortstop Mark Windle, followed by a bases loaded walk to tie the score at two a piece. The Lakers would pull away in the fourth inning, as Senior outfielder Kaden Lymon would plate two on a double to left center field, followed by a two RBI single from Freshman starting pitcher and third baseman Colton Bordick to extend the lead to 6-2. The score would remain, as Bordick would find a groove after the third inning on the bump and finish the game out for the complete game win.

The story of the night was right-handed pitcher Colton Bordick. After a shaky third inning, the Freshman would settle in, giving up no hits through his final four frames to secure the win. Bordick's final line was impressive; 7 innings pitched, giving up just 3 hits, 2 earned runs and striking out 8 on 90 pitches.

McDonogh

Peter Kokinis OF / RHP / McDonogh, MD / 2023

Santino Sanchez OF / McDonogh, MD / 2024

An uber-athletic outfielder who showed well in the game against Boys Latin. Hits from a balanced, crouched stance at the plate, getting the hands through the zone quickly with a more level path to contact. Keeps the hands inside the ball well, showcasing strength to both gaps with strong line drive tendencies. Possesses plus speed that impacts the game on both sides, showcasing the ability to really run it down in the outfield. Once size and strength is added to the frame, look for the bat to really take off and be a consistent doubles guy for McDonogh over the next two years.

Boys Latin

Colton Bordick RHP / 3B / Boys Latin, MD / 2025

Got the start on the bump for the Lakers and impressed from the first inning to the last. Possesses an athletic, wiry frame with plenty of room to fill out and continue to add strength. Works out of an extended side-step into a taller balance point with a slight pause, throwing with a full arm circle release from close to an over the top slot. Pitches with intent and a ton of energy, working the fastball to both sides of the plate with exceptional feel to the arm side. Induced consistent weak contact on inside fastballs to right-handed batters, sitting 78-80 early on, but got into a rhythm and settled in at 79-81, touching 82 a few times. The curveball was thrown with confidence in any count, keeping opposing batters off balance and differentiating shapes often at 68-70. Got the complete game win for the Lakers, working seven innings, giving up just two earned runs on three hits while striking out eight. An intriguing 2025 to keep eyes on throughout his high school career, as there looks to be plenty of velo left in the arm.

Jack Corrado 1B / Boys Latin, MD / 2022

Kaden Lymon 2B / OF / Boys Latin, MD / 2022

One of the more athletic athletes that I’ve seen this year on both sides of the ball, Lymon possesses a wiry, strong frame with plus speed. The swing shows some quick twitch, keeping the weight locked into the back leg well with plenty of bat speed and pull side strength. Creates consistent lift through contact, with more of a middle to pull side line drive approach. The ball comes off the bat well consistently, showcasing the ability to get out of the box quickly with a solid first step. A high energy player with a ton of moxie.

Mark Windle 3B / OF / Boys Latin, MD / 2025

In what is a loaded class of 2025 across the Old Line State, Windle is a guy that may be flying under the radar… but not for long. The frame is long, athletic and showcases strength that is portrayed on both sides of the ball. The long-levered shortstop showcases quick, active feet in the infield with solid lateral range and an above average arm that is only going to increase as strength is added and the body continues to grow. At the dish, the swing is powerful with plenty of rhythm in both the hands and the lower half. Stays behind the ball exceptionally well, synching into the lower half with solid torque in the hips. The barrel gets through the zone quickly, showcasing some explosion in the hands with a really nice whole field line drive approach. Occasionally creates lift, with the ability to hit for power to the pull side. An intriguing 2025 to keep eyes on.
