As the MIAA "A" Conference kicks off the 2023 season, we break down key players throughout the Conference and designed our own Preseason All-Conference Team. The MIAA "A" Conference contains some of the most talented and high octane athletes across the Old Line State, and we as a PBR Maryland staff cannot wait to utilize out boots-on-the-ground approach to scouting throughout the 2023 Spring season.

This list is comprised of two catcher positions, four infield positions, three outfield positions, a utility position, and three pitchers. We have also nominated three individual preseason awards, including "Newcomer of the Year", "Player of the Year", and "Pitcher of the Year.

Newcomer of the Year: 2025 RHP Joseph Nottingham (Loyola)

In what is an extremely deep and talented MD/DE Class of 2025, Joseph Nottingham has added his name into the mix as the top uncommitted arm in the class. The frame is long and projectable at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds with plenty of athleticism. Showcasing quick arm action through release, the fastball works in the upper 80's with plenty of life and run to it. To go along with an electric fastball, Nottingham mixes in a sharp, downer breaking ball for strikes that has shown the ability to produce weak contact and swing and misses. On a Loyola staff that has two top notch starters (Dylan Bryan and Wyatt Mummert), look for Nottingham to add intriguing depth behind them in 2023.

Player of the Year: 2023 Frank Adamski (John Carroll)

Leading the offensive onslaught in a highly impressive John Carroll lineup, the Coastal Carolina signee features some of the best barrel awareness and shear power of any bat throughout the MIAA. Possessing quick, whippy barrel action and strong hands, Adamski has shown the ability to backspin line drives to all fields with an advanced gap-to-gap approach. Playing clean defensively at the hot corner and providing consistent thump in the middle of the Patriot order bodes well for Adamski to have another huge season in 2023.

Pitcher of the Year: 2023 RHP Parker Thomas (Archbishop Spalding)

Our 2022 "Pitcher of the Year" does not change here in 2023, as East Carolina signee Parker Thomas looks to repeat an extremely impressive '22 campaign where he went 8-0 with 60 strikeouts and giving up just 2 earned runs. A fierce competitor in every facet, Thomas works with one of the best three pitch mixes in the state. The fastball works into the low 90's with ride through the zone and plenty of life to it, mixing a tight breaking ball that induces a plethora of ugly swing/miss; all going with a devastating changeup with killed spin that lives down in the zone. Look for yet another dominating year for the big 6-foot-3, 200 pound righty.
