Season Snapshot

Severna Park enters 2019 still searching for their first state championship under 7th year head coach Eric Milton. The three-time state champion (2003, 2005, 2009) and perennial Anne Arundel County powerhouse has come close on multiple occasions over the past four years finishing as State Semi-Finalists in 2017 and State Finalists in 2015 and 2018. Severna Park was about as close as you can come to claiming the 4A state title last season, holding a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the 7th, but it wasn't meant to be.

2019's team will have quite a different look with the Falcons losing five key starters from a year ago: Cam Clark (Towson University), Drew Jefferies (McDaniel College), George Lesher, Garrett Whitaker and All-Metro Player of the Year Kody Milton (University of Maryland). Seniors Jordan Hallet and Josh Horgan return on offense along with juniors Brendon Simonds and Jacob Way. Look for junior OF Corey Bodnar to also crack the lineup and find a role within the offense. On the mound, Simonds and fellow returning junior RHP Evan Lewis will anchor a younger staff with RHP Parker Jones figuring to also see plenty of innings for the Falcons in 2019.

Filling the void left behind by last year's senior class will be a challenge for Coach Milton but it's one that he and his staff are excited for. A strong regular season schedule should help prepare this year's team that still has plenty of returners with experience in big game situations to once again be serious contenders come MPSSAA 4A state playoff time.
