Season Snapshot

The Dulaney Lions will enter the 2019 season looking to defend their 2018 Baltimore County Championship. Last year, 12th year head coach Ryan Wolfsheimer and his squad nearly rolled through the entire county schedule without a blemish, losing just once at the hands of the Catonsville Comets in a late season game on the road. Dulaney routinely plays a tough schedule to prepare them for the state playoffs in the vigorous 4A North Region and 2018 was no exception. Other than the 5-1 loss to Catonsville, the Lions dropped just three other games along the way; two to MIAA powerhouses John Carroll (4-2), Gilman (8-6) and one to the eventual MPSSAA 4A State Champion Howard Lions (2-1) in the 4A North Region Section I Finals.

All everything shortstop and Radford University commit Bryce Frederick is back to lead the team in his senior season. Frederick lit it up last season at the plate hitting .478 with 11 extra base hits and 22 RBI's. Fellow senior Tyler Tufano, junior Finn Drew, and sophomores Todd Mozoki and Reid Bark also figure to play key roles in this year's offensive attack as they look to replace the bats of Jack Tarantino (John's Hopkins University) .355 AVG, Nolan Matsko (Georgetown University) .344 AVG, and Ben Stoner .325 AVG. On the mound, the Lions will also need to replace Danny Beard who went 5-1 with a 1.81 ERA and had 39 strikeouts in 2018. Mozoki figures to enter as the leader of the staff having gone 6-1 a year ago with a 2.65 ERA and 30 strikeouts, but look for juniors Cole McGee and Ryan Conroy to assist him in 2019.

There is little doubt that the Lions will contend once again for county supremacy but will 2019 finally be the year that they get over the hump and win the 4A North Region? Dulaney last won the region and made it to the state final four back in 2001. A fact that many on the outside wouldn't believe for as strong of a program Coach Wolfsheimer has built in his time as skipper of the Lions.
