Northwest Jaguars roll against Bethesda-Chevy Chase

The Northwest Jaguars explode for eight runs in the final two innings to defeat Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons 14-3. 

It was a tight affair early after B-CC tied the game at two in the top of the second inning after an RBI single to right by senior SS Elliot Ginns and OF James Springer scored on a wild pitch. B-CC would then take the lead in the top of the third inning after an RBI infield single by Jamie Mills making the score 3-2 Barons heading to the bottom of the third.

Northwest would add two of their own to retake the lead in the bottom of the third after a perfect suicide squeeze-turned infield single by Mac Adelman putting runners on first and third. The Jaguars would then steal second with the runner from third scoring following the catchers throw giving Northwest a 4-3 lead that they would not relinquish.

Northwest would then score their eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings highlighted by a two-RBI single from RF Ryan Kennington in the fourth and a two-run RBI walk-off double from Dean Edmundson to end the game because of the MPSSAA 10-run rule into the fifth inning. Those big hits came from B-CC having to go to young arms in the bullpen after starter Spencer Hacker came out of the game. The young bullpen for the Barons struggled to find the strike zone, loading the bases off of walks in both innings and Northwest would take full advantage of.

Northwest ended up scoring 12 unanswered runs after the third en route to the victory.  This was part of a round-robin tournament hosted by Sherwood HS. Sherwood defeated B-CC 7-2 in the morning game followed by the Northwest victory over B-CC in game two. Sherwood would get a 7-0 victory over Northwest in Game 3 after a strong starting performance from Sherwood starter junior LHP Connor Brady  going 4.2 shutout innings. Sherwood scored four runs in the final two innings to pull away from the Jaguars.
