The inaugural Pennsylvania Travel Baseball State Championships concluded without a champion, as rain washed out the final day of competition, but twelve teams from around the region were still able to play from sun up to sun down on the Friday and Saturday of action. Blue Chips

Cumberland Valley 2017 right-handed pitcher Beck Way featured a fastball that sat 85-87 at its best and settled in at 82-84. The pitch had some armside run and sink at the lower end of the spectrum and straightened out at the higher velocity. The lean 6-foot-2, 160-pounder also utilized a solid slider with 11/5 tilt at 73-75 that was typically a chase offering.

Chesapeake (MD) 2018 right-handed pitcher Joe Seidler showed a live, loose arm out of a high three-quarter slot on day one of the event. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder had late life on his fastball that topped at 85 mph and sat 81-83. His 11/5 breaking curveball at 72-74 had two-plane action and has a chance to be an out pitch at the next level. The member of Team Mid-Atlantic at the 2016 PBR Future Games has been up to 87 mph this summer.

Loyola Blakefield (MD) 2017 catcher Hunter Spalt has serious juice in his bat and the ball routinely had good carry when he elevated it. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitter went 4-11 on the weekend, with three of his hits being doubles that were driven to the outfield fence.

Spalt's high school teammate, 2018 right-handed pitcher Will Glock, struck out two in an inning of work. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder utilized a fastball at 82-84 with occasional armside run as well as a curveball at 69-70 and a mid-70s change-up.

The team's most consistent hitter during the tournament was Mount St. Joseph (MD) 2018 outfielder Connor Feustle The 5-foot-10, 165-pound left-handed hitter has a repeatable stroke with a short, direct path to the baseball. He went 6-10 with two doubles and three walks, while showing average wheels (4.66-4.71 home-to-1B times on turns). He also made a nice running catch in left field on a ball that was slicing away from him off the bat of a left-handed hitter.

Calvert Hall (MD) 2017 left-handed pitcher Brennan Maher worked out of a high three-quarter slot and showed some pitchability. His fastball sat 77-80, touching 81, and he was able to locate it to both sides of the plate, including under the hands of a right-handed hitter. The 5-foot-11, 150-pounder has a feel for spinning his curveball at 62-65 with 1/7 shape and some depth.

Bel Air (MD) 2018 infielder Spencer Sanza consistently got his hands inside the baseball and barreled it the other way, going 2-6 with two walks. The 5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitter also made a highlight reel, full layout, over-the-shoulder catch on a pop-up in shallow left field.
