Eastern Tech 2, Patterson Mill 1
Eastern Tech scores two runs off two Patterson Mill errors in the bottom of the fifth and hold on to defeat the Huskies 2-1 and advance to the 2A championship. 

Patterson Mill struck first in the third inning off a Brett Michaels RBI single to right Field scoring Jeff Noss and giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead. 

Noss started on the mound for the Huskies and cruised through four innings until he ran into trouble in the bottom of the fifth. Riley Hodge led off the inning hitting a chopper down the third base line.  Noss made an athletic play to get to the ball, but his throw sailed over the bag at first moving Hodge to second. Ian Tokofsky laid down a sacrifice bunt to the first base side and the flip went wild again scoring Hodge and tying the game up. Tokofsky advanced to third after a strikeout, and Andy Corbett laid down a perfect safety squeeze, scoring Tokofsky giving Tech the lead and the eventual win. 

Noss lead the Huskies with two hits and also pitched the complete game giving up two runs (0 earned) on three hits and struck out seven.  Eastern Tech starter Jack Young went six innings giving up five hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts. Young made some big pitches for Eastern Tech in scoring situations and the Tech defense came up with key stops with two outs to hold the game close and eventually take the lead and win. Hunter Coppell came in relief with one on in the seventh to get the save for Eastern Tech. 

Southern 6, South Carroll 5
Dillion Waters RBI basehit to deep right-center in the bottom of the 11th inning propels Southern to the 2A championship in an exciting contest. 

Southern took an early 2-0 lead off of a Waters homerun and heading into the top of the seventh inning Southern was holding onto 4-3 lead.  South Carroll gets back to back singles to start the frame and Southern turned to Truman Thomas to come in relief.  Carroll loaded the bases and scored the tying run off a pass ball.  Thomas would then get three strikeouts to end the inning.  A quick bottom of the seventh sent the game to extras.

The extra frames turned into a pitchers duel between Thomas and South Carroll’s Daniel Hoff as each pitcher would hold the opposing team scoreless until the 11th inning. South Carroll finally got to Thomas, starting it off on a base hit chopper down the third base line.  After a fly out and a walk, South Carroll had runner on first and second when Joe O’Barr hit the go-ahead single up the middle giving South Carroll the 5-4 lead. 

Hoff got a quick strikeout to start the 11th but an error and walk put runners on first and second with one out. JC Dilts single knocked home the tying run bringing up Waters and the eventual win. 

Thomas struck out eight in his four innings of relief for Southern.

1A

McDonough 6, Col. Richardson 5
Dale Arbaugh’s single in the bottom of the eight propels McDonough to the 6-5 victory over Colonel Richardson in the 1A state semi-finals. 

Col. Richardson got the scoring started in the second inning off McDonough starter David Larson.  With the bases loaded and no out, Jack Zebron hit a 2-RBI single to left field giving the Colonials a 2-0 lead.  A Dylan Nepert double to left scored Jaret Bennett and extended the lead to 3-0 going to the bottom of the third.

McDonough would score five runs in the third higlighted by Darren Prebble’s 2-RBI single to center.  That score would hold until the top of the seventh when Col. Richardson would tie the game on a two out error by McDonough.

The Rams started the bottom of the seventh with a double by Brant Butler and he would advance to third on a sacrifice bunt by Derrick Butler.  An infield fly to third left McDonough with two outs and Arbaugh stepping to the plate to provide the heroics. 

Brunswick 17, Douglas 2
The Railroaders would score in every inning en route to their 17-2 victory over Douglas. John Harding led Brunswick with two hits and two RBI. 

It was a 2-1 game heading into the second inning when Brunswick out break the game open with a six-run frame. Andrew Wanger started the scoring with a single to center knocking in two. Brunswick would add another run on a wild pitch before Harding tripled to left field knocking in two. A pass ball would add the sixth run in the inning and an 8-1 Railroaders lead.

Brunswick scored three in the third, two in the fourth, and five in the fifth to extend their lead to the final.  Douglas would add one run in the fourth.
