The Preseason All State Showcase was held on Sunday, February 12 at Diamond Pros Baseball in Glen Arm, MD. The event featured some of the top players from across the state. We began the evaluation process with our Stats Story and Early Thoughts earlier. Now we move on to the player evaluation process. A highly talented group across the board was on hand.

We continue our analysis today with the middle infielders. This was an interesting group with a strong core of 2018 prospects throughout. A group to keep an eye on.

Top Performers

Bryce Frederick SS Dulaney 2019
Bryce Frederick has a young, lanky body at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds. He runs a 7.02 60-yard dash. He is balanced, slightly open setup at the plate. Frederick has a short, smooth load into swing with rhythm throughout. He has a shorter swing path with quick hands. He gets good extension at times and gets around the ball at times. Shows quick hands and some bat speed right now that should get better and faster as he gets stronger. Exit velocity of 80mph. Defensively he shows active feet with soft hands and clean exchange. His weight shifts to outside of feet at times, would like to see him stay on balls of his feet to keep his athleticism throughout the fielding process.  Frederick has short, abbreviated three-quarters release that is 73 across the infield. He is a very interesting young prospect and one to keep an eye on as he gets stronger. Strong overall workout.

Heath has an athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame and runs a 7.48 60-yard dash. He hits from a square stance. He hits into his back side and shows a quick, level swing path with gap-to-gap power. He shows some bat speed in his swing with an exit velocity of 85. Defensively, he shows solid actions with sound hands. He moves well around the infield, but could stay on balls of feet more. He tends to be on his heels at times. Heath has a quick release with arm strength. He is 82 across the infield.
