Mid Atlantic Challenge 11/4/2018

Lanky projectable frame with room to grow and add on to at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds. Controlled compact delivery with hgih leg kick. Down to out lower half with average leg involvement. Free arm action throwing from a low three-quarter slot. Creates fast arm speed while pitching with regular effort. lands toward first base in finish. More in tank and should make a velo jump as he grows. Fastball has slight sinking action to the pitch up to 81 mph. Breaking ball has gradual 11/5 shape with shorter break up to 65 mph. Change up has fade on the pitch with near fastball arm action up to 71 mph. 

MD Eastern Shore Showcase 10.21.18

Long, lanky body type and projectable 6-foot-2, 160 pound frame. Controlled side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a tall, slightly forward balance point. Quick, clean hand separation and down to out lower half drive. Long, free arm action and quick arm speed through release. Throws with some whippy action from a low three-quarter arm slot with regular effort. Lands square to the plate with an athletic, more upright finish. Showed excellent command of fastball and change-up. Fastball sat 77-80 mph and touched 81 mph with arm side run. Change-up showed some late fade at 70-73 mph, and breaking ball had tight spin and shorter 12/6 break at 62-64 mph. 

Preseason All-State 2/18/18

Lanky projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds. Easy delivery with some pace. average leg kick inot down to out lower half. glides downhill with average backside  intent through release. Longer sound arm action throwing from a three quarter slot. Creates quick arm speed while pitching with light effort. Fastball has slight run on the pitch up to 80 mph. Breaking ball shows potential and already an above average pitch with tight rotation 10/4 shape and fastball arm speed thrown with confidence. Change up shows fade to the pitch at 67 mph. Very interesting 2021 to keep an eye on.

7.26.17:  Byrd is 5-11 and has a lankier athletic frame, hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Short leg kick stride, smooth load back, hips explode and has some balance during his swing. Works uphill through the ball, pull approach, exit velocity was 74. At third, gets behind the ball and plays through it, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, infield velocity was 70. On the mound, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is whippy with easier effort. Shoulders uphill and closed, lands on line to slightly closed with a bit of fall off to finish. Fastball was 73-76, touching 77, with a bit of late run to it. Change-up was 65-68 with heavy sink. Slider was 60-63 with hard 10/4 break.
