On Sunday February 18th PBR Maryland will host the Preseason All-State at Diamond Pros baseball facility in Glen Arm, MD. The biggest event prior to the high school season in Maryland will feature some of the top players and prospects around the state and put them all on one stage in front of the PBR scouting staff. As with all PBR events, all players will get their performance videoed and professionally edited to update or start their PBR Profile. Today we spotlight one of the players on the roster for the event.

Scouting Report

6.21.17 - Projectable 6-foot, 180-pound frame. Hits from a wider a slightly open set up. Rock back load to strong hitting position. Has a level bat path path with average bat speed at plate and uphill finish. Gets on back heel in finish at times. Like to free hands up in swing to see more extension through contact and stay behind baseball. Quick feet behind the dish with shorter arm action throwing from a three quarter slot. sound footwork. Throws were accurate around bag. 

5.20.17 - Leach ran a 7.91 second 60-yard dash on a thick track. The catcher/ pitcher features a wide and crouched set up. His hands start at shoulder level and load back in rhythm with a quick stride. His bat path is long and level through the zone with some extension after contact. He uses core and can add more power with increased lower half involvement. Exit velocity of 81mph. Behind the plate, he replaces his feet well and transfers the ball efficiently. He has a short arm action and repeatedly puts the ball on the bag. Best pop time was 2.06 seconds. On the mound, he has simple and quick delivery with some rhythm. His action arm is free and releases the ball from a ¾ slot. He lands square but can work on getting down the mound with more lower half involvement. Fastball topped at 80mph with some cut. Breaking ball had 1/7 shape with late movement at around 65-67mph. Changeup sat at 67-70mph with slight fade.

1.21.17 (Freshmen Free Showcase) - Projectable body at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds. Ran a 4.58 home to first.Hits from a slightly open, athletic set up. Shorter, smooth load to hitting position. Quick hands with some bat speed at the plate. Shows nice balance and some rhythm throughout. Nice foundation as a hitter and should develop into a nice gap-to-gap type hitter. Exit velocity of 81 mph. Low set up and sticks ball well behind plate. Quick feet on pops with a sound exchange. Catcher velo of 69 with pop ranging 2.12 - 2.27.

5.15.16 - Athletic frame at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds.  Ran a 8.06 60-yard dash and home to 1st at 4.94. Exit velo of 63mph. Hits from a athletic setup. Good balance and rhythm throughout. Level bat path with some lift at times. Low balanced set up receiving. Good sway and hip control moving on the ball. Opportunity to work on softening hands on receiving and sticking. Clean exchange and sound footwork to throwing position. Short arm action throwing from a ¾ arm angle. Can pull off front side at times on throws. Throws had some carry at 63 mph.  Pop time with a range of 2.21 - 2.28.
