RANDALL BEDNAR JR. Landon School OF 2017
MD/DE Rank: No. 2
Overall: 65
Maryland Commit

What made Maryland the right fit for you?
+ Awesome combination of academics, athletics, and superb coaching.

Randy BednarWhat was the recruiting process like?
+ I committed early after my freshmen year and I always wanted to play for my home state, so the choice was an easy one for me.

What other schools did you consider?
+ UVA, GW, Wake Forest

What were key factors you were looking for during the process?
+ Playing baseball in front of family and friends is very appealing to me along with the new baseball facility that will be built. I was also looking for a connection also with the coaching staff and I believe I have found that at Maryland.

What are your goals now before you step on campus?
+ Always striving to throw harder, run faster, hit the ball farther. I know the college game will be much different than HS. With all the travel baseball I have been involved with over the last four years, it has provided me a great opportunity to play with and against some of the top talent in the country. I have also been very fortunate to be surrounded by outstanding coaches and teammates and mentors who have aided my journey.

What have you learned from your time with your high school / travel organization?
+ Olney Pirates,Arena Starz National Team, Evoshield Canes National Team, Bubba Baseball. I have learned that in my travels you better be prepared to put in the work. Everyday that you don't put in the time, someone else from around the country will. At Landon, the coaches have always talked about a brotherhood and everyone has a role to fill. I was also fortunate enough to be invited to East Coast Pro tournament in Tampa in August and the entire experience with the coaches and players left a huge impression on me.

What advice do you have for players going through the recruiting process?
+ Always believe in yourself, never give up, stay the course and pursue your dreams, but stay humble.
