Riley LazichClear Spring HS senior Riley Lazich committed to Big South Conference member Radford University in 2014.  Riley also plays summer ball for the Mid-Atlantic Red Sox program.  The smooth swinging OF was kind enough to take time out for PBR Maryland and let us all get to know him better.

Why did you choose Radford?

--The program has been improving every year. I was impressed not only with the coaching staff and overall team chemistry, but also the campus life and academic structure of the University.

What other schools were you considering?

--Penn State, College of Charleston

Now that your commitment is over, what are your goals for your senior year?

--Continuing to get better so I am more prepared for college. Also I hope to help my high school team win games and have a successful season.

What would you like to get accomplished before you step on campus at Radford?

--Physically keep becoming bigger, faster and stronger. Have myself mentally prepared to strive in a college lifestyle.

What are you looking forward to the most about Radford?

--Competing in a Division 1 atmosphere and bettering myself as an individual and a baseball player.

Who did you play for over the summer and what was your most memorable experience?

--I played for the Mid-Atlantic Red Sox and enjoyed playing with great teammates in different college settings each week.

Who has been the most influential person over your baseball career and why?

--My father has taught me the ins and outs of the game ever since I was able to swing a baseball bat. He and my mother always push me to be the best I can be.

Who is your favorite MLB player and why?

--Andrew McCutchen. I am a huge Pittsburgh Pirates fan and also a center-fielder. I love the energy he brings to the game.

What are you going to bring to Radford as a freshman?

--I am excited to display my speed for my team and be an "energy guy" for the program. I also want to show a strong work ethic.

What is your goal by the end of your freshman year?  By the end of your college career?

--Most importantly excel in the classroom. By the end of my freshman year and college career I want to help my team win games anyway possible. I also hope to keep improving my game so I can catch the eyes of professional scouts and get drafted.

Random question:  What is your favorite movie and favorite follow on twitter?
