2016 LHP Jaret Bennett of Col. Richardson HS has been a popular pitcher that is still uncommitted in the junior class. Currently ranked No. 373 in the PBR overall rankings, Bennett looks to make a splash in the Maryland state rankings when they come out in the near future.  Here is a quick scouting report on the young talent:

Jaret Bennett+Shows fluid footwork with average feet and a quick exchange from first base.  His throws are accurate and consistent from his high ¾ arm slot. At the plate he has a slightly long swing with good balance and smooth back load. Bennett projects very well on the mound.  Pitching from a high ¾ arm slot, he showed good athleticism in his delivery and a smooth rhythm.  His free and quick arm displayed a velocity of 84 mph maxing out at 86 mph with run and downhill action.

Bennett was kind enough to take some time out with PBR Maryland to talk about how his recruitment is going.

What has the recruiting process been like for you?

+ It's been a lot more interactive than I thought it would. A lot has changed since my brothers were recruited. Wasn't expecting the texting with coaches and pretty continuous contact with them. I figured they'd send you an email here or there and be at your games. That's how it was when I was watching my brothers get recruited. The coach would give them a call but then be at their game. There wasn't all this texting and organizations like PBR to help with recruiting.

What are key factors you are looking for in a school?

+ Want to see a coach that's been in a program for a while. Someone who isn't going to leave mid-way through my college career. Love to go to a southern school with a successful baseball program and a good law program.

When did things start to heat up in your recruitment?

+After a good showing at the Southern Maryland Camp and the first PBR articles about the camp.

When did you realize that you were a college caliber baseball player?

+When I was successful on the varsity level as a freshman. Also two division one players for older brothers in the family.

Have you been on any visits?

+No visits

Do you have any offers?

+ One

Have you been in contact with any schools?

+Campbell, George Washington, Penn State, Radford, Towson, UMBC, and UNC Charlotte.

What has been the biggest moment in your baseball career?

+Biggest moment was when I was 12 years old in Cooperstown I hit five home runs in five straight swings over two games.

Who do you play for over the summer? Why did you decide to play for them?

+Played for the Evoshield Canes this past summer but playing for the Maryland Monarchs this summer. Both of my brothers did and know Coach Tom Keating very well.
