Signing Day Special Part II

Shooter Hunt
National Crosschecker

With signing week officially upon us, In the Weeds, takes a look at some of the top uncommitted pitchers across the country. Some are late-bloomers while others are looking for the right situation and level to play at in college. Overall, the group of six has a chance to contribute at some level for some program, and will each be a welcomed addition. States represented include Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, and Texas.

Jeffery Massey RHP / 2B / Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep, IL / 2018

Massey’s quick right arm stands out on the mound where his athleticism allows it to work freely. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound right-hander was 84-86 in a bullpen, but recent reports have him even higher in games, and that isn’t surprising. His more uptempo delivery is repeated with ease, and his quick hand speed stands out from a high ¾ slot while creating a downward plane. His curveball shows some late bite at 68-72 with 11/5 shape and fastball hand speed while his changeup has fading action at 73-75. Massey is a late-bloomer who some program will be very happy to have on campus. As he continues filling out and gaining experience, expect Massey to become a starter at some level in college.
