No. 1 Zack Gelof

Zack Gelof2015 was a wild year for Gelof, starting off being one of the top young performers at the Maryland Preseason ID in February, capturing our interest with an impressive performance. That spring Gelof, with teammate and fellow 2018 grad Austin Elliott, helped Cape Henlopen make an earlier than expected run in the Delaware state playoffs. The skill set coupled with his athletic and projectable frame caught the attention of many programs heading into the summer.

Gelof was part of a talented Mid-Atlantic Redsox 15u roster consisting of players from the Eastern Shore and Delaware area. Late in the summer he made his commitment to the 2015 College World Series champion University of Virginia.

Currently Gelof is ranked at No. 3 in the PBR Maryland rankings and No. 80 in the overall rankings. He is another young talent in this area to keep an eye on watch as he matures.

The video and scouting report of Gelof is from his workout at the Maryland Preseason ID.

Scouting Report

2.21.15 - Zack Gelof is a 6-foot-1 175-pound athletic SS/RHP. A legitimate two-way talent, Gelof showed athletic actions with soft hands, fluid footwork, and a quick exchange.  His infield velocity was 82 mph and his throws were accurate and consistent from his high ¾ arm slot. Offensively, he hit from an athletic stance and showed a short swing with quick hands to the ball and a smooth load. His exit velocity was 81 mph and he ran a 7.09 60 time indoors. On the mound, Gelof showed smooth rhythm with a quick arm speed and good sink on his fastball that sat at 82 mph. He threw from a high ¾ arm slot and showed a late action power breaking ball.  He had a free and easy arm action and is a very projectable pitcher. Gelof overall shows to be a solid two-way prospect and great talent in the 2018 class.
