The 2015 Prep Baseball Report Top Prospect Games took place Tuesday, June 30th at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. 51 of the top 2016, 2017, and select 2018 prospects came and put their ability on display in front of the PBR scouting staff and many college coaches from around the area.

Over the course of this week were will be releasing position-by-position analysis articles with scouting reports on each player and identifying the top prospects. Two-way prospects will appear in a positional analysis as well as pitching analysis. We shall identify top prospects in each positional breakdown along with a younger talent (2018, 2019) as a Future Watch if applicable.
Today we look at the pitchers that participated in the event. A very talented group that came to the event made for some tough decisions for the Top Performers.
Top Performers
Spencer Dietrich RHP Severna Park 2016
Frame with room to fill in at 5-foot-10 155-pounds. Strike thrower that fills up the zone. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed. Long arm action. Some rhythm in delivery and pitches with regular effort. More in tank once gets backside more involved in drive. Fastball has late run to the pitch with command at 76-82 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 movement and sharp actions with near fastball arm speed at 65-67 mph. Change had run to the pitch at 73 mph.
Joseph Haass RHP Polytech 2017
Athletic and lanky frame at 5-foot-11 155-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed and a free arm action. Controlled delivery that builds up sped throughout. Early front leg causes recoil and finishes towards first base. Arm works well. Pitches with some effort. Once gets consistent timing with lower half could get more velo. Fastball has slight run on the pitch at 83-86 mph topping out at 87. Breaking ball has tight rotation and late break with 11/5 action at 75 mph and near fastball arm speed. Slows arm down on the change up at 77 mph. Interesting prospect with room to grow and as he make minor adjustments, will get better.
Jordan Marvel 3B/1B/RHP Sussex Tech 2017
Solid frame at 6-foot-1 210-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with some rhythm in a controlled balanced delivery. Gets hips loaded and lower half involved. Has a quick arm with posture. Would like to see stronger glove side. Short arm action and pitches with some effort. In line direction. Fastball has heavy run and sink at 85 mph. Breaking ball had 11/5 movement with tight rotation and late movement with potential to be a power pitch. Changeup had near fastball arm speed and late life and action to the pitch at 75 mph. Solid and durable frame on the mound. Interesting arm to keep an eye on.
Miguel Rivera RHP Polytech 2017
Athletic frame at 5-foot-11 155-pounds. Controlled delivery with some rhythm. Throws from a ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed and a loose arm action. Pitches with very easy effort. Nice lower half usage. Frame to build upon. Fastball has late run with command. Pitched 82-85 but did hit 87 once. Breaking ball had close to 12/6 shape with good command, tight rotation and potential as a power pitch. Interesting prospect to build on.

Chris Chaney RHP St. James 2019
Lanky and athletic frame at 6-foot 155-pounds.Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with quick arm speed and a sound arm action. Pitches with some effort. Level shoulders and falls off towards first base. Has some rhythm in a controlled wind up. Rushes at time in the stretch. Gets lower half to work, could continue to clear the hips. Fastball has some run to the pitch with command at 82 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 action with tight rotation and power potential with near fastball arm speed at 66 mph.

Connor Banks LHP James M Bennett
Good frame at 5-foot-11 155-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle. Quick arm speed with a loose arm action. Controlled delivery and balance. Pitches with some effort. Smooth rhythm shoulders are in line to the plate. Slight recoil and falls towards third with finish. Fastball has some run to it at 75-78. Breaking ball had 1/7 movement with loose rotation. Showed a plus change up with fastball arm speed with fade and run to the pitch and command at 66-69 mph.
Luke Childress RHP/1B St. Mary's 2017
Solid frame at 6-foot-4 230-pounds. Throws from an over the top arm angle with average arm speed. Shows rhythm in a controlled delivery. Falls a bit toward first base side after finish. Shows some arm strength and should get better with increase in hand discipline. Fastball has slight run and sink to the pitch at 81 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual action. Slows arm down slightly at 61 mph.
Matthew Harsh LHP Boonsboro 2017
5-foot-10 225-pounds. Pitches from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action and quick arm speed. Pitches with some effort and would like to see more lower half usage. Has some rhythm in delivery. Square landing with an upright finish. Fastball has late downward action at 82 mph. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape with sharp and late break at 64 mph. Knuckleball was inconsistent with near fastball arm speed at 69 mph.
Bradyn Kail RHP Loyola-Blakefield 2016
Solid frame at 6-foot- 190-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed with a short and quick arm action. Controlled delivery with rhythm. Good hip load. Lower half has some early involvement to landing. Occasionally falls off towards first base side. Pitches with regular effort. Interesting frame to build on. Fastball has some run at 80 mph. Breaking ball has close to 12/6 action with early break and tight rotation with near fastball arm speed. Showed good command of the pitch. Changeup has fade and sink to the pitch with fastball arm speed at 72 mph.
Kade Keys LHP St. Mary’s 2016
Athletic frame at 6-foot-3 180-pounds. Throws from a ¾ arm angle with arm speed and a short arm action. Pitches with some effort and falls towards third base in follow through. Pitches with some effort. Fastball had slight run at 80 mph. Breaking ball has potential to be a power pitch with 1/7 movement at 69 mph. Gets good lower half usage possibly better hip load to create torque and increase lower half efficiency.
David Larson 1B/RHP McDonough 2016
Lanky and athletic frame at 6-foot-2 205-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed. Loose arm action and slight wrap. Pitches with easy effort. Smooth rhythm and stays in line with a square finish. Fastball was straight at 80-84 mph. Breaking ball 10/4 movement with good rotations and near fastball arm speed at 70-72 mph.
James Moses OF/LHP Loyola-Blakefield 2017
Solid and athletic frame at 5-foot-10 165-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action and arm speed. Has rhythm in a controlled delivery. Has direction and level shoulders. Square landing and athletic finish. Fast ball has late run on the pitch at 79 mph. Breaking ball 1/7 movement with tight rotation and late action at 70 mph. Changeup has good fade to the pitch with fastball arm speed at 74 mph.
Jacob Paulishak SS/RHP Middletown 2017
Long athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed and a long arm action. Controlled delivery with some rhythm. Pitches with some effort. Falls off to 1B side after finish. Could get more lower half involvement for increase in ability and possibly more velocity. Fastball had sink to the pitch at 82 mph. Breaking ball had 10/4 movement with gradual break at 67 mph. Changeup had near fastball arm speed and fade at 73 mph.
Ben Stewart RHP Calvert Hall 2017
Lanky frame at 6-foot-1 195 pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with a free arm action and some lift. Has controlled delivery with some rhythm. Would like more backside drive. Pitches with regular effort with direction and square landing and upright finish. Fastball has run at 82 mph with command. Breaking ball has some depth with early break and near fastball arm speed at 72 mph. Changeup has run and sink with command and near fastball arm speed at 72 mph.
Colin Taeschner RHP Calvert 2018
Frame to build on at 6-foot-1 170-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle in a controlled delivery. Pause after hand break and shorter arm action that creates some arm speed. Pitches with some effort. Good direction and has some lower half usage. Fastball and late run and sink up to 80 mph. Breaking ball has 12/6 action with tight rotation and early break. Has near fastball arm speed on the pitch at 64 mph. Change has near fastball arm speed at 72 mph.
Jacob Thomas RHP Bishop McNamara 2017
Long and lanky frame at 6-foot-3 170-pounds.Projectable frame to fill out. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed. Loose arm action and pitches with easy to sometime regular effort. Fastball up to 81 mph with run and down in the zone. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with gradual break and slows down arm slightly on the pitch. Shoulders are level. Continued strength should increase repeatability in delivery.
Nicolas Torroella OF/RHP Mount St. Joseph 2017
Athletic frame at 5-foot-10 160-pounds. Quiet and controlled delivery. Gathers to balance point. Throws from a ¾ arm angle. Shows some arm speed and pitches with some effort. Level shoulders and lands in line. Falls off slightly toward first base. More in the tank as he gets delivery more fluid. Commands his fastball that got up to 79 mph. 10/4 breaking ball with gradual break at 66 mph and near fastball arm speed. Good command of the changeup with near fastball arm speed at 69 mph.
Dillon Waters OF/RHP
Athletic frame at 5-foot-11 185-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed. Long arm actions and pitches with regular effort. Has some rhythm in delivery and shoulders uphill going toward the plate. Square landing. Fastball slight movement at 82-84 mph. Sharp 11/5 breaking ball with hard movement. Slows down arm speed on breaking ball slightly. Good feel for the pitch.
