Top Uncommitted 2017 LHP

With the 2015-2016 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, PBR Maryland will take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects from the 2016 and 2017 class at each position.

Now at the halfway point in this fall release we shift to the 2017 class. The fall is an important time for rising juniors to be sure to get their name out as a player to watch for the upcoming high school season. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week, as you can see by our 2017 Rankings there are numerous talented prospect still available.

7.31.15 - Large projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 220-pounds. Throws from a high three-quarter arm angle. Has a sound arm action and creates quick arm speed. Has a controlled delivery with nice tempo throughout. Lands slightly across his body with finish toward third base. Changes his arm angle to a low three-quarter / sidearm for fastball. Fastball has gets more sink on it from down low and has occasional cut from regular arm angle. Shows command up to 82 mph. Breaking ball has 1-to-7 movement with near fastball arm speed at 72 mph.  Pitch has gradual break and tight rotation with potential. Also potential two-way player at first base. Shows room for growth on the mound.

7.7.15 - Long frame at 6-foot, 180 pounds. Throws from an almost over-the-top arm angle.  Sound arm action with some arm speed. Will get more velo once gets more lower half in finish. Controlled deliver with some rhythm. Fastball has late run on the pitch up to 85 mph. Breaking ball has 1/7 action with gradual movement at 62 mph. Change up had good late fade and sink on the pitch at 69 mph. Good command of the pitch and nice action on the pitch. Unfinished product will be interesting to see how he develops as he gets more lower half involvement in delivery

4.14.15 - Compact frame at 5-foot-7 140-pounds. Throws from an over-the-top arm angle with a long arm action. Controlled delivery with a fastball that sits in the 79-83 range.  When throws down in zone, fastball has nice run and sink on the pitch. Breaking ball has 1/7 action with gradual break and hear fastball arm speed.

7.21.15 - Solid Frame at 5-foot-10, 225-pounds.  Throws from a high three-quarter arm angle with a fluid delivery. Slight kick out with lead leg. Has a short and sound arm action with quick arm speed. Pitches slightly across his body. Level shoulders and pitches with some effort.  Beginning to get some more lower half usage, and should get better as it becomes more fluid. Square finish to the plate. Fastball has slight armside run to the pitch at 82 mph. Breaking ball had sharp 1-to-7 action on it with near fastball arm speed. Better command as he got comfortable at 67 mph. Knuckle-ball has late sink to the pitch with near fastball arm speed at 67 mph.

6.30.15 - Room to fill out his nice frame at 5-foot-11 155-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle. Quick arm speed with a loose arm action. Controlled delivery and balance. Pitches with some effort. Smooth rhythm shoulders are slightly uphill and in line to the plate. Slight recoil and falls towards third with finish. Fastball has some run to it at 75-78. Breaking ball had 1/7 movement with loose rotation. Showed a plus changeup with fastball arm speed with fade and run to the pitch and command at 66-69 mph.
