The 2015 Prep Baseball Report Maryland Underclass Trials took place on Tuesday, August 11th at the Diamond Pros Facility in Glen Arm, MD. 25 prospects from Delaware and Maryland area in the 2017-2019 class put their ability on display in front of the PBR scouting staff and college coaches from around the area.

Over the course of the week we will be releasing the positional analysis articles with scouting reports on each player and identifying the top performers. We shall identify top performers along with a younger talent (2018, 2019) as a Future Watch if applicable. 

Today we look at the pitchers that participated in the event. Let???s take a look at the participants.

TOP PERFORMERS

Cameron Nolet (pictured) LHP St. Mary???s 2018
Compact frame at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action and quick arm speed. Has some rhythm with a pause at balance and pitches with regular effort.  Lands in line to the plate with square athletic finish. Fastball has some cut at 83 mph. Breaking ball has 1/7 action to the pitch with tight rotation and potential to be a power pitch at 67 mph. Changeup has some fade to the pitch with near fastball arm speed at 75 mph. Interesting left-handed pitching prospect in the 2018 class.

Brandon Cook OF/RHP St. Mary???s 2018
Athletic frame at 6-foot-1 165 pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with loose arm action and quick arm speed. Has a controlled delivery and pitches with regular effort. Square landing in-line to the plate with clean finish. Fastball has slight cut to it at 83 mph. Breaking ball has near fastball arm speed with 10/4 shape at 70 mph. Throws a knuckle ball with near fastball arm speed and late sink at 74 mph. Athletic on the mound and has more in the tank. 

FUTURE WATCH

Reece Early RHP/OF Gerstell Academy 2019
Athletic frame at 5-foot-10 170-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with a free arm action and some arm speed.  Has a controlled delivery with smooth rhythm. Pitches with regular effort, level shoulders, with a slight finish to the first base side. Fastball is straight at 82 mph. Throws a 12/6 curveball with tight spin and potential for a power pitch. Slider has 11/5 shape with gradual break. Both breaking balls ranged 67-69 mph. Changeup has near fastball arm speed at 74 mph. Very intriguing prospect in the 2019 class and will be interesting monitor development.

Jason Genshaw SS/RHP Sussex Tech 2018
Athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 155-pounds. Throws from an almost over-the-top arm angle with a long arm action and average arm speed. Has quicker tempo with some rhythm. Pitches with regular effort in a controlled delivery. Square finish to the plate. Would like to see more consistent glove side on release. Fastball has sink and cut on the pitch at 75 mph. Breaking ball has loose rotation with 10/4 shape at 66 mph. Change up has near fastball arm speed with fade at 70 mph. 

Brendan Gibson 1B/RHP Gonzaga 2017
Imposing frame at 6-foot-4, 235-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with a free arm action and average arm speed. Quick tempo with a controlled delivery. Stays in line to the plate with slight finish towards the first base side. Fastball has slight arm side run at 79 mph. Breaking ball has tight spin with 11/5 action and near fastball arm speed at 66 mph. Changeup has near fastball arm speed and arm side run with late life on the pitch at 70 mph. 

Hunter McKean RHP/1B St. Mary???s 2019
Solid frame at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds. Throws from an over-the-top arm angle with some arm speed and a long arm action. Controlled delivery with rhythm. Lands slightly closed to the plate and finishes toward the first base side. Fastball is straight at 77 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 action with gradual break and potential to be a power pitch at 63 mph. Slows arm speed down on changeup with fade to the pitch at 64 mph.

Tyler Shockley C/RHP James M Bennett 2018
Compact frame at 5-foot-8 140-pounds. Throws from a high ¾ arm angle with a sound arm action and quick arm speed. Quicker tempo in delivery and pitches with some effort. In line to the plate with a square finish. Fastball has slight run to the pitch at 81 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 action with tight rotation and potential to be a power pitch at 64 mph. Changeup has near fastball arm speed with sink at 71 mph.
