Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2025 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public and private schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2025.    

#14 Urbana Hawks   

"A prennial powerhouse in Frederick County, Coach Frownfelter always seems to have his team ready to play, and the ability to reload talent year in and year out has been impressive. Not much changes in 2025, as the Hawks return a slew of impact arms and bats that should see Urbana making yet another deep run at a state title. On the bump, it's led by a two-headed monster in seniors Mason Johnson and Daniel Jakuboywc, and look for an exciting junior in Evan Zarroli to hopefully regain form and add consistent innings as well. A young buck to keep eyes on that could also potentially add some innings on the backend is sophomore Kiegan Rupinta, a lefty with plenty left in the tank. At the dish, this lineup is led by standout junior in Kayden Lipscomb, a 2024 Future Games alum who has added eye-opening strength to the frame and looks to take that next step this spring. Look for fellow juniors in Zarroli, Billy Swaney, and Aiden Welch to add nice depth throughout the lineup as well. Finally, an up and coming sophomore poised to make noise this spring at the dish is Trevor Collins, a switch-hitting backstop that has impressed in each look we see him"
