Following the updated MD/DE Class of 2025 and 2026 Rankings updates, our staff turn our attention to the 2027 class this week. After a lengthy fall season between tournaments and events, this class comes into more focus as we enter into the winter months. Below, we have highlighted and take an in-depth look at four arms that are set to make a considerable jump in this update. Stay tuned, as our staff reveals the Top 50 on Wednesday and the full rankings release on Thursday.
MD/DE Class of 2027 Arms On The Rise (Alphabetical by last name)
Cameron Allen RHP / SS / Polytech, DE / 2027One of the top arms that garnered my attention this fall, the lean 6-foot-1 righty showcases explosive actions with plenty to dream on from the bump. The fastball works in the mid-to-upper 80s with plenty left in the tank, working feel to both sides of the plate with the ability to induce swing and miss in the zone. Incorporates a high-spin breaking ball that plays extremely effectively off the fastball with depth down. As the feel for spin increases, look for this to be a household name across the state of Delaware for years to come.

Owen Caraballo 2B / RHP / North Caroline, MD / 2027Another arm quickly on the rise across the '27 class, Caraballo showcased well in each of our looks this fall. A standout at the DCP Battlegrounds and Mid-Atlantic State Games, the athletic righty showcases true feel for a three-pitch mix, running the fastball in the mid-80s with over 20 inches of horizontal break. The breaking ball continues to be the "out" pitch and is thrown in any count off the fastball, showcases feel and confidence in the shape. One to certainly keep tabs on as the frame continues to fill.

Ben Sclafani LHP / GEORGETOWN PREPARATORY, MD / 2027One of the top competitors in the state, Sclafani opened my eyes this fall at the MD Fall Championship and adds his name to one of my favorite arms to watch compete. It's a three-pitch mix with a repeatable operation, working the fastball in the low to mid-80s that plays extremely well off the curveball/changeup mix. Any pitch in any count with the ability to induce weak contact consistently. As this frame fills and maturity starts to set in, look for the 2025 campaign to be a big one for the Georgetown Prep southpaw.

Hunter Strauss 3B / RHP / Smyrna High School, DE / 2027Physical, durable 5-foot-11, 190-pound righty with proportional strength throughout. One of the more intriguing breaking balls in the class, Strauss can spin it with the best of them and showcases feel with the ability to manipulate shapes in the zone. The fastball continues to tick up, working in the low-80s with more in the tank. As the mechanics clean up, look for this to be another highly touted arm across Delaware for years to come.
