Avik Cherry SS / 2B / Broadneck High, MD / 2027

One of the more consistent young bats across the state this summer, Cherry continues to mature and the strength added has shown increased power to the gaps and alleys. It's a high-contact, line-drive approach with strong hands and athleticism that impacts on both sides, with two-way ability on the mound that pounds the zone with confidence.

Cooper Mengel 2B / RHP / Broadneck High, MD / 2027

An arm to keep close eyes on for years to come, the long 5-foot-11, 165-pound righty was a standout at both our Maryland State Games and the inaugural Super Sophomore Games this summer. It's a controlled operation with intent on the bump, mixing a three-pitch arsenal with feel for all three. The fastball works in the mid-80s to both sides of the plate, spinning the breaker on occasion with an advanced feel for a killed spin splitter down in the zone. The ceiling is certainly with the arm, however, the hit tool shows some spark as well with power upside to the gaps.

Malcolm Blaqman SS / RHP / Home School, MD / 2027

Yet another young two-way standout makes a jump in this latest update, as Blaqman possesses some of the more eye-opening athleticism and raw strength in the class. The hit tool continues to impress, showcasing quick hands with some whip in the barrel, consistently impacting the baseball at a high rate this summer. As the frame fills, look for power numbers to increase with plenty of power upside. On the bump, it's an athletic arm swing with the ability to work the mid-80s fastball to both sides and miss bats in the zone.

Grayson Ryan C / RHP / CALVERT HALL COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, MD / 2027

Advanced physicality was on full display this summer, and coming off a strong spring season with Calvert Hall bodes well for projection with this intriguing two-way. The arm impresses in each look, working a four-pitch mix with the ability to spin fairly consistently in any count for strikes. The fastball shows life through the zone in the low 80s with plenty in the tank, mixing a bigger curveball and tighter slider off the heater effectively. Barrel length and strength to the middle is evident at the dish, and as the body continues to mature, look for power numbers to increase in the coming months.

Will Kelly OF / 1B / Loyola-Blakefield, MD / 2027

One of the more helium guys across the state this summer, Kelly possesses a really nice mix of strength and athleticism with power on full display this summer at the dish. Smooth, fluid hands with an accurate barrel, the power upside is eye-opening and as the strength continues to be added, look for a standout fall and winter to follow one of the top summers we saw from a 2027 position player.
