In this edition of the scout blog, I take a look into four different games I was able to attend, split between 2 Delaware scrimmages on Saturday, March 22nd, and 2 Maryland public school games yesterday afternoon. We look in-depth into some arm talent possessed by powerhouse programs across Delaware and some upsets under the Monday night lights that may or may not have featured a rare feat. Ultimately, two Maryland public schools prevailed yesterday, with River Hill picking up a 7-2 win over Marriotts Ridge and Old Mill tossing a no-hitter en route to defeating #14 Severna Park 3-1. I dive into nearly ten players split between arms and bats that stood out. Teams will be mentioned in alphabetical order.

Cape Henlopen (DE)

Aaden Johnson C / Cape Henlopen, DE / 2027

It was a hit parade for the sophomore DH as Johnson collected three hits throughout his afternoon on Saturday against St. George's Tech. I picked up this game starting in the third inning, and Johnson took it into left-center for a single on the first pitch I witnessed. In his third AB, he crushed one over the head of the left fielder for a double before finishing off his day with another line drive, this one back up the middle for a single. Johnson started as a freshman for an loaded Cape Henlopen lineup and roster overall, and he seems to be primed for an even better season as the experience from last year kicks in.

Jase Mitchell C / Cape Henlopen, DE / 2025

The top-ranked 2025 in the state of Delaware started his senior campaign off with a bang as he kicked off the year explosive at the dish, as always. In Mitchell's first AB of the game, he crushed one to the fence in right field for a double (not on video). His biggest at-bat was later in the game as he obliterated one for a no-doubter, clearing the right field fence by a mile for a two-run bomb. Things would go quiet after that, as Mitchell would draw a HBP and a walk later in the contest. Jase Mitchell continues to impress in every single look, and the power potential from a strong but lean 6'3", 188-lb frame is evident, especially to the pull side. Even with the power upside, he has continuously shown the ability to spray line drives gap-to-gap. Defensively behind the dish, he is just as impressive as a wall behind the plate, with a strong arm that limits runners from even attempting to steal on him. Mitchell is primed for a massive senior year before he continues to Kentucky in the fall.

Caravel Academy

Garrett Bohn RHP / Caravel Academy, DE / 2026

Bohn has really jumped onto the scene over the last few months after strong showings in front of our staff during the fall and winter, and he kicks off the spring with another standout performance. In one inning against Sussex Academy, Bohn pounded the zone with the fastball that consistently sat mid to high-80s, getting up to 89. Occasionally, he would mix in the secondary arsenal, primarily working curveballs in the low-70s. Bohn possesses a very lean 6'1", 166-lb frame with long limbs that allows him to create a tough look for hitters. As the spring season continues to jump into full swing, I wouldn't be surprised to see the uncommitted junior touch into the low-90s and cement himself as another big-time arm out of Caravel.

Brady Thompson OF / Caravel Academy, DE / 2025

A two-way talent that has always flown under the radar throughout his high school career, Thompson recently committed last month to Bates College up in Maine. He showed off that two-way talent throughout the morning on Saturday, taking a fastball through the infield for a single in his first AB before jumping up on the mound later in the day. There is some evident raw arm talent from the southpaw, as he tossed two scoreless frames, striking out six batters. The fastball jumps on hitters consistently in the mid-80s while grabbing an 88 and 89 early on. Showed feel for the secondary mix, working a breaker in the mid-70s that induced heavy swing and miss to both sides in and out of the zone. It's a tough look from hitters, as Thompson works from a lean 6'3" frame with long limbs. More known for the hit tool in the past, it's evident that he will play an integral role within the Buccaneers' pitching staff and give them a southpaw to mix with the depth of arm talent in Bear.

Marriotts Ridge

Owen Snow OF / Marriotts Ridge, MD / 2026

This uncommitted two-way jumped onto the scene out of nowhere late in May 2024 after a strong showing at the Mid-Atlantic Trials. We have been high on him ever since but haven't had the ability to get extended looks. I headed out to Marriottsville on Monday to see this hit tool in-game as he has been red hot to kick off the spring. He is another guy who works from a highly lean 6'4" frame but has evident strength when in the box, as he has mashed multiple home runs in the last few weeks. No home runs on Monday, but Snow did collect two hits throughout the game, with two bullets off the bat, one into right-center and the other to the opposite field, showing strong line drive tendencies with strength for consistent XBHs. I didn't get to see him on the mound, and we won't likely until after spring break, but last summer, we got to see him work in the mid-80s at 85-87 with the fastball while mixing in a high-spin slider. Keep an eye on 2026 this spring; he won't be uncommitted for long.

Old Mill

Gavin Glos RHP/1B / Old Mill, MD / 2025

I decided to stop at Joe Cannon Stadium on my way home from Marriottsville back to the shore on Monday night to look at Old Mill, which turned into an excellent decision. Uncommitted senior Gavin Glos took the hill for the Patriots against #14-ranked Severna Park, and he turned in a complete game no-hitter, striking out nine batters. Glos only worked two pitches throughout the night, but he had a feel for both in and out of the zone for swing and miss. Early on, it was a ton of weak contact, but as the game progressed, the strikeouts kept piling up. Lots of credit goes to the Patriots defense, as they made some spectacular plays throughout the game, including two in the seventh inning to seal it. The fastball worked 83-85, grabbing a couple of 87s with feel for the high-60s curveball down and away. This outing under the lights may turn into the best one I will witness this spring.

Brady Tingen 3B / Old Mill, MD / 2025

Brady Tingen was the offensive MVP for Old Mill in this 3-1 win over #14 Severna Park, as he collected two extra-base hits throughout the night. The senior opened the scoring in the second inning as he crushed a fastball up in the zone over the head of the left fielder for a double, plating the contest's first run. Later in the game, Tingen would take a fastball the other way, this one to jumpstart the Patriots offense with a double to right-center, later scoring on an error at shortstop. If Tingen can continue to lead this offense, don't be shocked if this Old Mill squad surprises many people this spring as they started their season with a statement win.

River Hill

Jonathan Bloom 2B / River Hill, MD / 2025

Yet another uncommitted senior who opened eyes on Monday afternoon, Jonathan Bloom adds himself to that list with a 4-for-4 performance against Marriotts Ridge. Although he may work from a smaller and slim frame, he was able to spray line drives to all fields throughout the game. He kicked things off in the first inning, taking a fastball the other way for a one-out single before repeating that same scenario in his second at-bat for another single. In his third AB, he sent a rocket at the third baseman down the line that he could knock down, but the speed from Bloom allowed him to reach before sending another bolt into left field in the seventh inning for his fourth and final hit of the day. The top of the River Hill lineup showed explosiveness on Monday afternoon, and if they can stay consistent and continue to find ways to reach it, the Hawks will be a threat once again in Howard County.

Severna Park

Dylan Grice LHP / Severna Park, MD / 2025

The Lebanon Valley commit took the mound against Old Mill under the lights and turned in a very respectable outing. With it being early in the season, the southpaw went four innings, allowing one earned run on two hits. Grice may not be a high strikeout guy, but he works the three-pitch in the zone confidently to limit hard contact, as he only allowed one barrel all night. Fastball got up to 84 but settled into the low 80s while getting heavy swing and miss of the curveball that worked away from lefties with success. Grice is another name within an extremely deep Falcons rotation that can play well off the plethora of righties Severna Park possesses.

Evan Boucher RHP / Severna Park, MD / 2026

Over the course of the past week, I believe I may have had the opportunity to see every single arm in the Severna Park rotation, and Boucher was the last junior apart of the loaded arm talent in the Falcons' 2026 class. Worked two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three while finishing just shy of 70% strikes. He allowed no hits, utilizing the fastball and curveball mix with success as he settled in. Fastball was up to 85, sitting consistently in the low 80s with the ability to pound the zone. He struggled to land a couple of curveballs early on, but as he settled in, the feel increased, and he was really able to limit contact. If you are in the market for an arm in the 2026 class, Severna Park has multiple options to choose between, and Boucher certainly puts himself on that list along with Eric Benner, Reese Davis, and Kyle Witte.
