Logan Slimko RHP / OF / North Muskegon, MI / 2026

NORTH MUSKEGON - There have been no offers to date, but Logan Slimko believes “it’s just a matter of time” before his college recruitment works out.

“I’m getting a lot of interest from everywhere,” related the sixth-ranked junior right-handed pitcher in Michigan. “There have been a couple Big 10, a couple ACC and some smaller mid-majors like Dartmouth from the Ivy League that have reached out.”

Admittedly, it has been an interesting few months since college coaches could first make contact with players in the 2026 class when Aug. 1 hit.

“It’s been kind of stressful,” the North Muskegon High School junior explained. “Last winter I went to a lot of camps and they talked about getting in touch, but once summer came I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s a little slower than I thought it would be, but there’s a lot going on with roster size and transfer portal which they have to figure out on their end.”

The 15th-rated 2026 in Michigan was able to show off his game well leading up to the initial day coaches could reach out to players in his class.

“The Future Games was great for me to get in front of colleges that had not seen me,” Slimko noted. “Playing with Artillery this summer also helped a ton with getting me in front of coaches. But the Future Games was the main part.”

Since that Prep Baseball event in Georgia in late July, the 6-1 153-pounder has been making strides in his game.

“I’ve been working on body control, location of pitches and taking a more minimal effort rather than just throwing as hard as I can,” Slimko explained. “I’ve gained more velo since I’ve been working on that, along with more pitchability.”

The quest to play in college has been ongoing for the 17-year-old.

“I’ve always wanted to play baseball for as long as I can, that’s part of my personality,” Slimko said. “It’s what I like to do and what I’m good at.”

Academics is another strong point for Slimko, who carries a 3.98 GPA at North Muskegon and has a 1,300 PSAT score.

“I’m gonna use baseball to take me as far as I can, whether it’s getting into a smart school or the best I can go in baseball,” Slimko said. “I’m trying not to close any doors too early.”

There is a blueprint as to what he is hoping to find at the next level.

“Good academics is one of the most important things,” Slimko explained. “Good academics with a good reputation when it comes to job placement. With baseball, I want to go where I’m valued as a player and a teammate, a place I can play and develop early rather than later.

“I’m looking at a higher-level D-I in a six or seven hour radius from home. I’d like to stay close, but I’m not going to pass up any opportunity that’s too good to stay close to home.”

With that, Slimko looks forward to the remainder of his recruitment.

“I’m looking at going to some Big 10 and ACC camps this winter,” Slimko said. “I want to try to get as many coaches to watch me as I can. I’m going to the ProCase with Prep Baseball as well.”

As for a timeframe to make a decision, there is no set plan.

“The earlier the better, but I’m not in a rush,” Slimko related. “I want to wait for what’s right and find a place I’m going to fit in.

“I’m grateful for everything I’ve had so far, but I feel I’ve been overlooked a little,” Slimko added. “I had a rocky start to my summer, but as time goes by you get what you deserve as long as you do what you need to do.”
