2018 Future Games: Day 3

The standouts were numerous on Day 3 of the 2018 PBR Future Games with an impressive amount of strong performances. Below are just a handful of players who had strong days.

Chase Centala, RHP, Sickles HS, FL
Centala’s command of his fastball, especially to the glove side, was some of the best that I saw from any player in the class this summer. He pounded the zone with a fastball that sat 86-88, and utilized minimal effort to do so. The 6-foot, 180-pound right-hander’s arm works quickly with whippy-action, and his compact, athletic delivery makes it easy for him to repeat his near ¾ slot with ease. He showcased a swing and miss slider with tilt at 77-79, and was also to control a changeup in the zone at 78-79.

John Seibert, C, Warwick HS, PA
Seibert’s powerful swing has been on display throughout batting practice over the course of the first three days, and on Day 2 of games, he hammered a double, deep to left field that likely would have cleared the fence had it not been for the top spin that it flew with. Barrel-chested with a strong lower-half, the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder has quick, twitchy hands with obvious power.

Saborn Campbell, OF, Detroit Country Day HS, MI (2021)
Campbell is an impressive athlete whose 6.51 60-yard dash was one of the fastest times at the event, but it has been his bat over the past few days that has had me locked in. He has a mature approach to his rounds spraying line drives to all fields, and allowing his quick hands and loose wrists to work freely. Even more impressive was the single he smacked through the left side in his final at-bat in the second game. He tracks pitches with ease, and when faced with a solid breaking ball with two strikes, he calmly turned it around for a hit.
