2022 MHSAA Tournament: Division 2 State Semifinal - Forest Hills Eastern vs Goodrich

EAST LANSING - Top-ranked Forest Hills Eastern advanced to the Division 2 state finals with a 6-0 blanking of Goodrich on Thursday afternoon.

Jacob Pallo took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with a two-hitter over 6.2 innings before Evan Parks came in to close out the victory for the Hawks.

Forest Hills Eastern scored one run in each of the second, third and fourth innings before putting three on the board in the sixth.

Brian Messing had a RBI single in the second, Caleb Kniper scored an unearned run in the third on a Parks’ base hit and Collin Fridsma had a run-scoring single in the fourth.

A Messing double opened the sixth and a Brendan Thompson single to right-center field made it 4-0. Fridsma and Parks added singles in the frame for the Hawks, which will face Grand Rapids Christian at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the state championship.

With two down in the sixth, Travis Liford singled for the first Goodrich hit and Noah Keller followed with another base hit for the fourth-rated D-2 team in the state before Pallo got out of the jam with a strikeout.

A two-out error, a wild pitch and a walk in the seventh ended the day for Pallo and Parks induced a ground out to finish the game.

Fridsma, Messing and Parks, a Butler commit, all had a pair of hits for Forest Hills Eastern, which had nine for the game.
