Inside the Recruitment: 2016 SS/RHP Drake Titus

Drake Titus, SS/RHP, Orchard Lake St. Mary's Class of 2016

Drake TitusPBR: Why did you choose Army?

Drake: I chose West Point because of many reasons. First and foremost, West Point is about more than just baseball. It has a tradition much bigger than any sport or any one person. I went to West Point last August for camp and instantly felt comfortable with the coaching staff. I felt the Army Baseball Program fit my playing style and it would be an amazing place to play Division 1 baseball. Also, West Point provides an education that will push me and help me grow as an individual.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Drake: I was considering Eastern Michigan University and Oakland University.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?

Drake: West Point first saw me play last summer at the PBR Future Games Event.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Drake: I play for the Motor City Hit Dogs under John Salter. My most memorable moment would not necessarily be a specific moment but playing with the same guys as my high school team, competing against the best competition, and being with such a great organization and parents.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Drake: I honestly did not have much expectations with the recruiting process. I took each day as it came and went out and played baseball. It was an exciting process, but I am very excited and relieved to be committed to West Point.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Drake: Hitting: .362 Ave, 42 R, 8 2B, 20 RBI, 33 BB, 20 SB, .526 OBP

Pitching: 88.2 innings, 12-2 w/ 2 saves, .87 Whip, .69 ERA,  101 K, 17 BB

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher and hitter that you have faced?

Drake: The toughest pitcher was Karl Kauffman and hitter was Nick Plummer. I am glad I was able to face such great competition in high school.
