PBR Spotlight Game: Southfield Lathrup vs Southfield High

SOUTHFIELD – In a battle for Southfield Supremacy, The Southfield Lathrup Chargers took on the Blue Jays of Southfield High.

This rivalry has seen a lot of talent such as Johnny Slater of Lathrup (2013 draft pick, current University of Michigan player), and David Cole (Current Central Michigan University player) of Southfield.

The current teams are both full of young talent such as 2016's Amani Godfrey, Kevin Smith Jr (both of Lathrup) and 2017 George Osborne (Southfield).

Godfrey dominated the Blue jay’s going six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, leading the Chargers to a 5-1 victory over Southfield.

Unsigned Senior Chase Colding reached base in the first for the Chargers, later stole both 2nd and 3rd. Unsigned Senior Jalen Thomas scored Colding on an RBI single.

Lathrup scored another run in the 3rd as 2017 Keith Powe Jr reached base on an outfield error. Powe Jr eventually scored on a passed ball.

The Chargers brought another run in the 5th as Powe Jr doubled to Left. Powe Jr scored again on an RBI double from 2015 Jamar Bray (Grace College Commit).

In the top of the 7th Lathrup scored an additional two runs.

Thomas started the inning with a infield single and advanced to 2nd on a overthrow. Powe Jr's RBI single scored Thomas. Powe Jr scored for the 3rd time after a RBI single from 2017 Evan Echols.

The Blue Jay’s didn’t' go down without a fight scratching one run across the board on three walks and a passed ball.
