WHITE LAKE -  While serious college interest is not there yet, Kevin Krill remains far from concerned when it comes to his recruitment.

“I’m not too worried about committing right now,” explained the Lakeland International Academy junior. “By this summer, I would hope to have some options looked into so I can make the choice right around the start of senior year.”

Contact with Division I coaches has begun for the 58th-rated 2021 player in Michigan.

“Coaches that I’ve sent texts say to come to our camps,” said the 6-1 195-pound catcher. “I’ve reached out to Big 10, SEC and ACC schools, specifically I went to camps at Notre Dame, Ohio State and Northwestern. I’ve had positive feedback from all of them.”

Mid-American Conference, Patriot League along with Ivy League programs are others Krill is considering, with a big winter ahead including the Michigan Bulls Scout Day as well as a Michigan State camp to name just a couple planned events.

“Playing on a good summer team is important to get exposure and I do that with the Michigan Bulls,” Krill noted. “I was also fortunate enough to be on a high school team that was top five in the state in the regular season last year.”

It has helped bring notice to the improvement being made by the 12th-ranked junior catcher in the state.

“From the end of summer to fall really I’ve improved my power,” Krill pointed out. “I’ve had a big jump from the low- to mid-80s to the 90s with my exit velo (92 at the Notre Dame camp). I’ve also caught a lot better pitching of late than I did in the past. I’ve caught mid- to high-80s, even low-90s.

“Another thing is I’ve caught up with the speed of the game. It’s not faster like it was when I was younger and I played up an age group.”
