Sharkas Achieves Goal To Play At Eastern Michigan

Anthony Sharkas OF / OF / Plymouth, MI / 2019

CANTON - Last winter Anthony Sharkas set a goal to play Division I college baseball at Eastern Michigan, 35 minutes from his home.

The 29th-rated 2019 in the state has now achieved his objective with a commitment to the Mid-American Conference school.

“I liked the coaches and the program a lot,” the right-handed outfielder said.

Initial interest from Eastern materialized at the Top Prospect Games in late June.

“That was the first time I talked to (head) coach (Eric) Roof,” Sharkas said of the PBR event which was held at Eastern Michigan. “The weekend after we were at a tournament at Eastern and they came to that. But seeing me at the PBR event got it started.”

The incoming senior at Plymouth showed speed and a strong bat at the TPGs.

“It was a great event with a lot of exposure,” Sharkas said. “I saw a lot of coaches standing around and I tried to show off my tools. I can run fast so I tried to steal bases to show what I can do. I’m glad I went to that event or I would not be where I’m at.”

The 6-2 180-pound outfielder had previously attended the PBR Preseason All-State Showcase in March.
